I’d appreciate any thoughts or input on my plan to manage Amex cards.
Current status is that my wife has BAPP card with her membership year ending in November. She qualified for this card on the basis of household income, since her personal income is very low. She triggered a 241 last month.
I previously held a BAPP card and my 24 month moratorium on sign up bonus expires in October this year.
Given recent announcements about fees and partial refunds we are thinking of doing the following:
Downgrade her BAPP card now to the free BA card. She’ll get a prorata refund of her membership fee.
I’ll then get her to invite me in October for a new BAPP.
I guess my query is if there is a personal income threshold for the free BA card? And also is this the best card for her to change to?
Any other suggestions appreciated.
Thanks
20k is min income for BA Blue.
I would cancel the BAPP and start the 24 month counter and get the more widely accepted Barclays Avios. same 1 Avios per £1.
Your wife will likely never (in the near future) qualify again for the BAPP given that household income is no longer considered. I would therefore not rush to cancel if you are ever in the position of wanting her to have one.
I cancelled player 2’s before the rule came in and I regret it. But this depends if you will need that many 2-4-1 and can afford to keep the card. I would consider just rotating yourself to get SUB if you can afford it.
