Cash Upgrade to Points Booking

Does anyone know if you can book a room with points and then upgrade the plan (i.e. to all-inclusive) afterwards? Example is one of the UAE hotels that have all inclusive plans – if I book a points reward room, could I then upgrade to all-inc afterwards? TIA

Yep, on several occasions I’ve upgraded a points booking with cash

Just email the hotel directly with the request
