Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Cathay London to Hong Kong flight not showing on ba.com

Hi. Looking on Cathay website they are showing plenty of availability in Business Lon-Hkg return in Jan 26. 84,000 Asai miles. However the same dates on BA.com only show BA direct flight and then stopping flights with Qatar or Finnair, but not Cathay. Any idea why this is? Is it BA not wanting the competition form Cathay to show? Is it Cathay restricting which seats they let partners sell?

Seems there is no way to convert Avios to Asia Miles so a bit frustrating and makes a bit of a mockery of “partnership”

From my experience they very rarely come up , on the odd occasion they may release seats nearer to departure

I’ve booked QR in business using avios on BA website in May .. I’ve been checking every day and nothing from LHR on CX however if I want to fly from MAN on the direct CX flight there is availability for my dates that is (which I don’t fancy ) which came up today

If you find them grab them quick as there rare

Yes has been like this for a while unfortunately – it’s Cathay restricting partner availability to preserve seats for it’s own members. BA does the same – the “initial” release are BA Club only.

It is possible but the seats are hard to come by! I managed to snag a one way LHR-HKG on 31 Dec in business, booking a few weeks in advance. There was only 1 seat available though.

Cathay normally release award seats to partners only 60 days before.

Also, if you do manage to find CX availability on BAEC, then see if it’s also showing up on QR’s website as well. The Avios amount required is the same, but the cash component is lower when booking CX biz. Cancellation fee is also only $25 rather than £35.

EDIT: Or actually book via Finnair’s website if it’s showing up there (although cancellation fee is 50EUR)
If I’m looking at the exact same CX Biz flight, then the redemption amounts in the various channels are:
    BAEC: 92750 Avios + £328
    QR: 92750 Avios + £253
    Finnair: 72500 Avios + £328
