Long-haul trip in the works. Too long to suffer economy…prices too high for business.
Some prices look acceptable for Premium Economy and both Cathay Pacific and Eva Air are giving similar pricing.
Not sure which to choose those:
Premium Economy on Cathay (without OneWorld benefits)
Premium Economy EvaAir (with StarAlliance Gold).
Luggage etc not really an issue.
Have already got flights in the works to renew the StarAlliance Gold without the Eva Air flight and I am not looking to go back to getting Gold on BA.
I am familiar with Cathay’s product, but not so much Eva Air’s.
Any advice?
EVA PY is one of the best (if not the best PY in the market). In fact if I am not mistaken they are the founder of PY! My first (and only) PY experience with them back in 2017 was great. You get plush blanket and better food quality. I think the only downside is that you will be on their aging 777 which is no longer my favourite plane to fly on. Their lounge in TPE is also pretty good too considering you have no lounge with CX.
I heard various complaint from CX camp that they are not as good as pre-covid but having said that my BR flight in J (late last year) was a bit meh as well.
