CE Avios booking cancellation charge?

Hi,
I cancelled an Avios booked in CE last month, and the Avios have been refunded.

I was expecting a refund of £15 to my BAPP but this has not happened and I was wondering if I had misunderstood the terms. I had paid £50 + Avios for the flight so was expecting to pay a £35 cancellation fee and get £15 plus Avios refunded – is this correct?

For anyone that has done this – how long did the cash refund take to arrive?
I’m asking as I would like to cancel my BAPP 🙂

Yes, you should be due a £15 refund and you should really have received it by now, so worth a chaser call.
And from a BAPP perspective, no issue if you close it now before you receive the refund, Amex will send you a cheque (or you can ask them to transfer onto another of your Amex cards, if you have any).

How long has it been since you cancelled, early last month or late? I cancelled flights a fortnight ago and the agent said it was taking 30 days for the cash element to be refunded at the moment. I haven’t got the cash back yet and am expecting (hoping?) for it in another couple of weeks.

I cancelled the flight on the 17th Aug so maybe 2 more weeks for the cash refund. Thanks for the info. Another bizarre BA IT quirk or does delaying a refund 3 weeks really help their cashflow? @E – you cancelled on the phone or chat? Is there any advantage to that over the web route through MMB (that I used)?

I cancelled two lots of 2-4-1 Avios bookings by phone on 1st September and ‘taxes’ I had paid less £35 were refunded to my amex by 3rd September. 😱 Avios and companion ticket were back in the account immediately.

@Whisper2, I cancelled on the phone. Looks like it’s variable though if @sm got the refund back quicker.

Hmm I cancelled hia MMB 2 weeks ago – no cash no avios .

Ah – the wonderful randomness of BA’s IT and systems! Maybe they could get the contract to pick the lottery numbers!
