If it wasn’t for insurance I am not sure I would bother.
Perhaps consider going with the ICC Platinum, which also offers insurance up to 80 and no need to even put charges on the card for the coverage to be in effect!
I was at Goyard in Mayfair today. A woman tried to argue for 20 mins with the doorman that
her Amex Black Card had made an appointment for her. Doorman was very nice and patient and asked each sales assistant individual if they were expecting her. She was fuming at not being permitted to skip the queue and kept asking to be let in as she’d flown in especially and had a flight to catch to go back home.I thought some of you may find that amusing

Brilliant. Not sure why she was so exercised though; isn’t Goyard rather passé now? Fauré Le Page seems to have rather stolen their mantle.
I dont have a Centurion card but I do have a platinum card and my blood ran cold when I saw the price of the Centurion card. It suggest that a platinum price hike cant be far away.

Probably not – UK Plat fee was just increased not that long ago whereas the Centurion AF had lagged behind other markets for years.
Service levels since they went to new model have been truly awful. it’s apparently been escalated but I haven’t heard from my account manager or whatever fancy title they have now. Restaurants they used to be able to get you a table they now ‘can’t’. I know this to be a lie as I was at Amazonico on Saturday night with centurion said there were no tables. Email to Assistant GM and straight in – they certainly weren’t totally full. That really sticks in the craw.
Maybe they were trying to do you a favour keeping you out of an overpriced poseur palace…

This was my Aunt haha

Did she tell you that she offered me money to take my place at the front of the queue?
If I had known that she was your aunt, I would have gladly accepted her cash! 💷Does anyone know if a similar arrangement like outsourcing US Cent travel to Expedia is been rolled out in the U.K.?
The developments stateside are worrying and represent a much more significant downgrade compared with fees going up.

As far as I am aware currently it is only the FHR prebooked that has moved over to Expedia and unsure if that is all hotels or just some.
I do agree some of the changes made are far more concerning that the few increase, overall it feels like a very hard sell and not thought through at all, which is a shame as done well it could have been a great platform to relaunch Centuion UK.
I have been a UK centurion cardholder for many many years. It was once a great product with great service, useful benefits and fantastic staff but unfortunately no more! I’m very sad to say that nothing good that can be said about Centurion UK any more.
The fees have increased again and whilst that wouldn’t necessarily be a big deal everything else has devalued.
Concierge and Travel are now a complete and utter waste of time as they seem to be very restricted in what they can or rather want to do. They are unable to book the majority of travel requirements given that they wont book low cost carriers which makes up “44.5 percent of the total seat capacity in the region” nor will they book or even research trains, ferries, airbnb etc
The roll out of new card designs and Prada wearable hasn’t gone as planned with many cardholders reporting on flyertalk the issues and commenting that the quality of the new cards isn’t up to scratch and that the wearable doesn’t add any value especially as cant seem to change the card without it being replaced nor can it be used with other cards.
The existing benefits just haven’t kept up and the new ones aren’t anything to write home about. All the included statuses are low and add little or no value. The insurance is not as good as it used to be either. Transaction fees are still applied on foreign spend. There really isn’t much difference when compared to platinum and perhaps most importantly there are now much better and cheaper products available elsewhere. In the age of contactless no one will ever see the black card so one has to ask what’s the point in keeping it ?
