Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Changing frequent flyer number on booking from BAEC to Safar

    Morning folks,

    So I have two bookings:

Booking 1 – As expected Finnair appears to wipe my FF if I try to update it (to Safar), I then add the Safar number to the booking on BA. It has applied ok as it states seats will be free to book, but when I confirm my chosen seats, it errors and says I need to call BA

Booking 2 – As above – but when I go to the booking on BA, it still shows my BAEC number (so can’t add my Safar number)

When this has happened before, I’ve used RJ.com, but that isn’t clearing it either.

From memory, this could be a FQTV / FQTS issue, but wondering if there’s any other tricks I can try? (trying my hardest not to need to call BA :/ )

    Any experts? 🙂

I tried the same on Finnair, but with Qantas. It does not go through. I managed to change my email only. There is some bug I believe.

Try doing this via Twitter with BA. I did this on two separate occasions in January for flights at the end of Feb and beginning of March as I couldn’t get it to work online and also couldn’t face BA’s phone queues! The first request on Jan 14 took a week to do. The second on Jan 27 was done same day. Give it a go and good luck 🙂

By way of update and coincidentally I had a BA booking JER-LHR-MLE for next March that I wanted to switch my Finnair frequent flyer code into so I could book seats for free (I am a lowly Blue with BA but Platinum level – OW Emerald – with AY). The wipe in Finnair worked and then I was able to replace my details on the BA site and book my seats successfully, so maybe the bug is now fixed.

I’ve now dropped to BA bronze. Is it possible to switch/link my exec club account to my Safar gold account in order to make seat reservations on BA redemption flights?

Try switching it in as @AndyGWP describes above in the opening post and see how you go!

I never posted an update, but as suggested by Guernsey Globetrotter, liaising with Twitter did the trick (apart from when my plane changed, and Twitter wasn’t being responsive so I just ended up calling BA in the quiet hours I think?)
