Morning all, anyone been in the BA club lounge at Dalaman airport recently? How was it? There aren’t many reviews online and they are pretty poor. Is it that bad??

Silly quick question. If I have made an Avios flight booking (just now) – do I have 24 hours to change my mind (and cancel for free?)

Yes, You have 24 hours, before the £35pp cancellation fee kicks in.

Thanks @Gordon – do you know if the system is clever enough to measure this free cancellation ‘to the hour” (or minute).

Ie. a booking made at 7:45am today, could be cancelled online (and FOC) if performed at 6am tomorrow?

Or if I try to do it online tomorrow is it likely to calculate its a different day and want to try and charge me (if that makes sense) so I’d have to call instead

@AndyGWP – I can’t answer that, I’m afraid, as I’ve never cancelled that close to the time limit, but once the booking is made it’s obviously logged onto the system, so it counts down from T-24 hours, until the deadline, as opposed to using a date format.

I don’t know which lounge BA use at Dalaman, but we used the CIP lounge earlier this week via Priority Pass and my whole family agreed it was by far the worst airport lounge we’d ever used. Tables were not being cleared/cleaned between customers (it was busy but not overflowing), food was pasta, salad and pre-packaged cake/biscuits (nothing proteinaceous whatsoever), all alcoholic drinks attracted a cash supplement.

Wonderful! It seems to be this lounge 😕. Looks like a large late lunch is going to be on the cards.

Unless BA’s IT improved (lol), the online system is not smart. You need to call to cancel for free. Even then, they are likely to not realise it is under 24 hours (or do not know of the rule) and try to charge you the cancellation fee. You need to be explicit that you are under 24h and want full refund of avios and money.

IME the payment doesn’t clear for at least 24 hours and so there’s no cash refund as such, just the avios. Someone reported the other day that the page showing what you’ll receive no longer appears, which would have been helpful!

@janed9388 They can get away with it because Dalaman airport is ridiculously expensive for food. Coffee, small roll and bag of crisps, £23 at Starbucks.

    Happy Yorkshire day Folks.

It’s also 10 years since I first set eyes on my wife. To celebrate, we are having an evening out. After careful deliberation, the wife instructed me to book Tattuu. I’m not overly keen, but with £25 off and the use of the Amex dining credit, that’s what I’ve been ordered to do. I think I’ve converted her too much.

Congratulations and enjoy! I spent 3 years at Leeds Uni many years ago so considered myself a tiny bit Yorkshire 😂. Many happy memories, mainly of the night life!

And buenos días from the IC Madrid on an excellent 3 for 2 deal courtesy of Emyr, plus a 4th night for 41k points which you don’t often see these days. We were upgraded to a King Premium room which could do with a refurb, but the bed is supremely comfortable and the Club Lounge just delightful.

It’s predicted to be 38 C so air conditioned galleries will probably be in order for the middle of the day!

    Happy kinda 10th anniversary @yorkshireRich

Happy wife, happy life and all that but I was singularly unimpressed at Edinburgh Tattu to the level that I would rather have finally tried Bread Street Kitchen instead. Or indeed gone to the military tattoo. Ugh – that is this Saturday come to think of it.

I mean it’s food and all that but I just didn’t get it.

However Mrs Froggee can’t hate it as she has been a few times but I thought it was overpriced and sub par. The ambience was weird also with attempts at romantic dinners mixed with instagrammers and then we were all overrun by a coach party.

The highlight was the fellow sitting behind Mrs Froggee somehow managing to launch his sunglasses onto her plate with a monumental head flick.

I wouldn’t bother with Bread St Kitchen either. Bland and over priced.
Only Hawksmore let’s a (just) passmark out the Platinum choices

We were very impressed with Bread street Kitchen London the other month. I’m expecting no other than disappointment tonight, but I’ll just be having a main course and ordering no instagrammable overpriced cocktails.

I really enjoyed the IC in Madrid. We caught the train to Toledo. Bibo Dani Garcia is a restaurant I highly recommend which is close to the hotel.

Congrats. I was going use my Amex dining offer at Tattu London. Is the £25 off a local deal?

What’s the best way to check award availability on ANA through VS points.

Any tips on which airports will have better chances of award seats and offer the new business seat.

it does seem that way unfortunately

@NorthernLass – enjoy Madrid! The heat to which you refer is par for the course in Jul/Aug and why you got a good deal. Hope you are going to visit the Thyssen museum as part of the keeping cool programme.

    Rubbish.

The IT can handle cancellations without any need to call.

Booked flight at the weekend, next day I cancelled online and the voucher I used was refunded the next day and the cash refund cleared today. No cancellation fee applied either.

Ouch! For four of us that would be pricey. Might have to nip to the shops and stock up on snacks. Probably won’t get fed till 10pm on the flight so kids will need topping up.

Not sure how recently you have tried but I have done many online cancellations and it works fine – shows you that you’re getting a full refund and deposits the points back. Usually the charge just drops off vs being debited & refunded

It actually seems to be slightly more than 24hrs in practice too but definitely works the next day

If you do happen to hit a screen that doesn’t tell you how much they’re going to refund then I’d probably call or chat for that just to make sure it does get done correctly

Not in my experience. I cancelled an RFS booking online via MMB within 24hrs a couple of weeks ago and got everything refunded the following day automatically.
