@JakeWS regarding your question about different properties vs. one base. I think it depends on how comfortable you are about living out of a suitcase and how good you are about getting up and getting out in the morning and most importantly where you want to visit.
We’ve done a few road trips and usually like to stay at least 2/3 nights in each place. When we went to Yellowstone we were a group of 6 including my parents so it suited us not to move each day.
All Turkish airports have hugely overpriced food and drink. At Istanbul IST, it was 13 euros for a sandwich a year ago. It’ll probably be at least 15 euros now.
Dalaman and Antalya have the shittest lounges I’ve ever had the misfortune to visit.
@JakeWS – we went mid May when US Colleges broke up. First part of the trip took 4 weeks. We took an internal flight to Salt Lake and then had to stay a few nights in Pocatello as there had been heavy snowfall and the roads were closed in the Parks. We headed to Jackson Hole and again had to stay longer than anticipated because of heavy snow. Eventually visited Grand Teton NP and Yellowstone NP. They were both magical with the fresh snow glistening in the sun. We then travelled around Wyoming before heading west through Idaho and Oregon and eventually through the Redwoods and down the coast to San Francisco. After visiting a number of NP and Lake Tahoe we ended up in Reno where we flew to Denver and started another 4 week tour. We’re quite happy living out of suitcases. However for the second part of our trip from Denver we hired an RV. As others have posted, you need to be aware of possible snow falls. We visited Yellowstone for a second time another year in mid September and there were falls of snow then. Sorry have to end post as we’re on the Eurostar and just about to arrive in Paris!

Was surprised at this – sure, food at all airports is expensive, but this was totally out of whack with the local prices.
Plus a lot of western fried and other junk food options. You’d have thought they’d be showcasing their excellent local cuisine.
On the other hand, take Changi – you can find a food court that serves popular local food at a reasonable price.
@BBbetter Looking forward to being back at Changi in Nov, even with the extensive lounge options we sometime grab something very fresh at one of the eateries. It was some fabulous sushi last time.
Following on from the Yankee candle posts the other day I was in the Arndale today and there is a sale on at the moment and large candles are now £15 down from £25.
Will visit Bury market tomorrow first though!
Well I feel compelled to report back. Despite not expecting much from my visit at Tattu leeds this evening. It was Infact very good.
@yorkshireRich Just what you’d hope for on Y’aark’shire day.

I’m pleased yet surprised!
@LD27 Enjoy Paris! Your trip sounds excellent going to have to spend some time on YouTube working out where to go from everyone’s suggestions. I’d love to do 4 weeks but think with the 20 day trip to Japan this will be most of our leave gone next year!
It’s crazy to hear about the weather. I knew it would vary a bit but definitely didn’t think I’d have to prepare for snow. We were in Banff one year in September and everyone was dressed in full hiking gear, bubble coats etc but it was mid 20s and I was just wearing shorts thinking they were all lunatics.
Definitely comfortable living out a suitcase, think our record was 7 hotels in a 17 night trip. Amateur numbers for some I’m sure but never really had time to unpack.
