Why is BA’s website so bad?

Keeps failing when I try to pay for flights, do they not want my money?

Good morning from the Cathay Pacific lounge at LHR. I must have been living in a cave until now but I’ve just discovered you can order a barista-made coffee at the bar – and it’s delicious. Winning day life this morning!

Reminds me of when pax complained about the lack of champagne on offer at galleries, until they realised they had to request it, I’m guessing there is still a percentage that are oblivious to the fact!

Problem in Galleries is finding a member of staff to make the request.

Just noticed I have 10k bonus avios posted to my BAPP a couple of days ago. It’s definitely not a retention offer as I took one up (and hit the spend target) last year. Have I missed anything else?

Good morning from great breakfast and great stay at the Scandic Continental Stockholm.

Booked for 500 Avios + €74 with a Finnair voucher, vs north of £200 cash rate.

As I mentioned when I posted about this last week, it’s a really flexible deal. You don’t need the voucher to make the reservation, and you don’t even need a credit card unless you want to guarantee the room after 1800.

I waited until the day before arrival to visit the Finnair website and generate the voucher, so there’s was no danger of being stuck with it after a change of plans.

Agree, that can be frustrating, I’ve found a short wait by the kitchen door works for me, nab a staff member as they enter or exit, order two to save on legwork, great success rate!

What’s it like? Scandic Continental Copenhagen very much had an Ibis vibe, although given how little I was in the hotel (was at a media event) and the price I would have paid elsewhere it was still a great deal, esp for location.

And good morning from Galleries North. I successfully changed my cheap 9:45pm flight home to 8:55am which is a definite improvement. It makes booking the Heathrow Sofitel doubly beneficial as not only did I not get murdered but I was able to get up at the usual time and avoid public transport stress.

Thanks to the HfP team for organising the shindig last night. It goes to show that STRANGER does not always equal DANGER.

Mr McToadrick and I had a thoroughly pleasant time. And I imagine our respective wives probably had more pleasant evenings than normal as a bonus.

It was lovely putting many faces to handles although Mr McToadrick was a bit confused how so many people knew so much about him.

Special mentions go to @Skywalker for being the first person to be nice to us; @Polly and @Cat for being Polly and Cat; @ExpatInBerlin for being delightful and amusingly living close enough to Mr McToadrick to be a bonafide stalker; Dawn for being a long suffer spouse and being willing to talk to me; and finally the small but mighty @CocoOnTheGo for showing us a video of her squatting 182.5kg which is coincidentally the weight of the entire Froggee family.

It also served to completely emasculate Mr McToadrick who managed to rip his glute squatting 80kg. @CocoOnTheGo even has nicer nails and softer hands than him. (Yes I checked.)

Hah hah boom boom gotta get my flight.

    Luv ewe.

Much nicer than any Ibis I’ve stayed in.

Stylish, but built to a budget (no wardrobes, for example). Nice common areas. It had more like a Hotel Indigo vibe.

Great location too. Two steps from the metro & Central station.

    Good morning from Beachcomber Mauritius.

Here thanks to 2x companion vouchers for 3x seats in premium. Which also meant the scares when trying to make sure we sat together (really wish there was a way to have CVs pooled into a household account).

Wish us luck on the way back. Given all the chat about BA club and bronze value, the 7 days seat selection sure would be welcome right now 😂

    Hotel is great, BTW.

Great to meet some of you last night. Didn’t get to meet any of the forum royalty but there is always next time.
Huge thanks to the HfP team. Great night yet again. If you could arrange for me to win the raffle next time that would be even better.

Thank you to Rob and the HfP team for all the hard work to put on such an enjoyable evening at the summer party last night and in a splendid venue too. There was a great atmosphere and as a solo attendee I found everyone I conversed with really friendly and welcoming. Congrats to all the raffle prize winners!

Lovely to chat to @Jill-Kinkell, only sorry we didn’t have time to discuss your upcoming South America trip in any detail before the raffle started but looking forward to a trip report!

Great fun meeting everyone’s favourite forum dad the brilliant @Froggee and the recently redeemed Mr McToadrick who indeed seemed bemused at being an HfP celebrity and who I discovered I’m likely to bump into in my local pub 😂

After @Froggee jokingly berated me last night for still not having changed my handle 2+ years after returning from Berlin, I think I’ve no choice but to drop Rob an email today!

Safe travels home to all those who made a special journey to London for the party, particularly in this heatwave. I’ve just selected my 241 CW seats for BA0053 to Seattle a week today so looking forward to the next points adventure 😎

Thanks for a wonderful evening yesterday! 🙂
Good to have met some of you, despite the sultry atmosphere.

    @Stuartchap
sounds fab. I’ve got a 241 to Mauritius booked for August and haven’t had time to do any research yet but will do soon. And, it’s all thanks to the lessons I’ve learnt on HFP, so, truly pleased and grateful.
