    OMG I am so going to complain about this @ExExpat.

    You didn’t even go for ExExpatInBerlin like I suggested.

    Grump, grump, grump grrrrrrrrr.

    I. Am. So.

    Happy.

    Thanks all for the info. I will have to fess up and pay. The schedule change is annoying but I can’t make up a reason why it is really important. I am on an Avios booking so is £70 for two people.

    Is there however not regulation that covers this? Given the fairly consumer friendly EU/UK regulation on delays / cancellation, this seems a fairly large omission.

    What is to stop BA moving a flight by 12+ hours and just saying their internal ‘policy’ of 2hrs does not apply?

    Good morning from Beachcomber Mauritius.

    Here thanks to 2x companion vouchers for 3x seats in premium. Which also meant the scares when trying to make sure we sat together (really wish there was a way to have CVs pooled into a household account).

    Wish us luck on the way back. Given all the chat about BA club and bronze value, the 7 days seat selection sure would be welcome right now 😂

    Hotel is great, BTW.

    @stuartchap
    – which hotel are you in? We have been to a few – all great, some better than others though 🙂

    @Frogee. Whatever you do don’t change yours or the families…… not even to ExTadpole

    Hello to @Exexpat ( in Berlin!!) lovely to meet you and who knows might need to explore a church or two! Trip report on South America will never live up to @froggee and his entertaining family exploits , but I’ll try something ( shorter!)

    Great to catch sight of and chat with the HfP poster royalty @froggee @cat and @Polly and sympathies to @fatheroffour
    All so enjoyable even if the winning raffle tickets( of which there were a several) just passed mine by , by a couple of digits .
    I’m escaping to a lounge courtesy of PP having skirted the delights of LGW shopping.

    I’m confused. Staying at a Candlewood Suites, was told at check in that there wouldn’t be any housekeeping during my stay as per policy for an extended stay property. Big notice in room saying housekeeping every seven days, any towel replacements etc on request.

    This morning, 9.30am Housekeeping knocking on all doors offering service.

    No breakfast at Candlewood as per brand standard, but it’s possible to book a breakfast rate.

    https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025/jun/20/airline-staff-being-trained-to-bar-people-without-visas-from-flights-to-uk

    More than 9,000 airline workers at carriers including Wizz Air, Jet2 and Lufthansa, have undertaken training to verify UK visa documents at departure gates in 39 countries, including those on major transit routes for irregular migration such as Greece, Malta, Italy and Albania.

    British Airways comment

    As a carrier, this kind of insight is extremely useful and absolutely critical for us as it will guide us in how to process our customer whilst complying with the UK laws. Our stations feel more confident and prepared in using the ETA/eVisa system.”

    It was lovely putting many faces to handles although Mr McToadrick was a bit confused how so many people knew so much about him.

    Special mentions go to @Skywalker for being the first person to be nice to us

    Aw thanks 😁 it was very nice to meet you too @Froggee and Mr McToadrick – it really is nice to put faces to handles as you say!

    Nice also to chat with @Sergey and @FatherofFour

    @Rob

    Airlines have of course always carried out checks that pax have the right to fly to their destination. Try checking in for a flight to the US without an ESTA or Visa. The only new thing here is that HMG are now providing the training.

    What HMG should be doing is ensuring that check in agents overseas can electronically verify the rights of EU citizens with settled status.

    If a French visitor wants to fly to the UK on holiday, the check in agent in France will be able to see that they have a valid ETA, and check in will be smooth. If a French citizen has lived in the UK for 20 years and has Settled Status, the check in agent will not be able to verify this electronically, and the passenger will have to provide proof of their Settled Status. People with Settled Status are being treated as second class citizens. Its a shameful way to treat people who have made the UK their home and pay their taxes here. HMG has not even written to these people to warn them that they they now have to prove that they have the right to re-enter the country that they call home. An email would have been nice.

    @AJA and @Froggee too late! 😂 I’m now ExExpat

    Oh well. At least you haven’t gone for something totally different.

    I will definitely try to get a ticket when the next do happens but it looks like that’s only going to be in 2027 😞 Countdown to check in starts now, I guess it’s T-24 (months)….

    I think the HfP party should be an annual event, football notwithstanding. I am sure an April/ May party before the world cup would be possible, or even autumn.

    @Froggee I’m joining the echelons of the seven character handles now 😎. @Jill-Kinkell safe travels north! @AJA yes it’s a complete lottery although it did look like a number of tickets became available last minute yesterday, although more difficult to plan for of course and especially so if one isn’t already going to be in London or the environs.

    Just about to use Yolla for the first time as a Skype alternative to call a mountain bike centre on Vancouver Island that doesn’t have an online payment system. Very easy to download the app and buy PAYG credit so fingers crossed.

    Good morning/evening from the tiny but perfectly formed Hanaq lounge in CUZ courtesy of my Priority Pass waiting to return to LIM at the end of my week here in Cusco exploring the Sacred Valley. An amazing week, but I am exhausted from all the very early starts to Machu Picchu etc. and need a holiday from my holiday at the moment!

    Lounge is surprisingly well stocked for somewhere that can only seat 25 people. There’s a selection of mini sandwiches, mini cakes, fruit, nibbles, beer, a few spirits and some Chilean sparkling wine which I am having a small glass of as is traditional despite the fridge being seemingly on the blink and it being room temp!

    A couple of days in Lima to eat some more delicious food, and then slightly off the usual tourist trail to Trujillo to see some archeological sites in that area
