Following on from Manchester T3 lounge being closed is it possible airside to use the lounge at T1 and walk to T3 or is it too far?

I was told on Tuesday this week that the current escape lounge closes 9th June, but that BA customers will be accommodated in the space that was once the bmi lounge (i.e. turn left and downstairs out of security).

Hopefully that will be open on the 10th the comment was also made that upon moving to T2 BA will be accommodated in a new Airline Invitation Only along with Qatar and Virgin passengers (presumably Aer Lingus UK too) and that it is a fantastic space with the highest standards and offering so watch this space.

Invitation only….sure….until they start selling access for £5 above the 1903 going rate. Never underestimate Manchester Airport Group’s ability to ruin something good.

Looking to book Scotland to Tenerife flights for a long weekend this summer. Cash fares are now expensive (unsurprisingly, as it’s peak time). Any good ways to do use points to help? GLA is the most convenient airport, but PIK or EDI would also be fine.

Direct flights seem to be largely Ryanair or Jet2. Only a short break, so if getting an indirect flight would like either a short connection time or to go via somewhere like Barcelona (where an overnight stopover could be fun).

There’s plenty of choice around Barcelona for a long weekend.

It is a long way to go for a weekend, especially when the weather is good in mainland Europe. But there are plenty of departures from Madrid and other Spanish cities. Iberia flights may also be quite expensive this close to travel.

Only points idea I can think of is getting yourself to Edinburgh and getting an Iberia flight to Madrid, and connect onwards from there.

If Tenerife is a must, try booking with Avios via LHR or EDI-MAD-TFS.

Make sure it is via BA and then you can cancel up to 24hrs before departure.

Keep checking Ryansur prices, they sometime plunge just before departure – we had one from Bordeaux to EDI go from £250 to £60 a week before the flight.

Thanks for the replies – a cancellable points booking, and then potentially changing to cash if prices fall, could be a good plan.

Agree, it’s a long way to go for three or four nights. We’ve got a hotel voucher that will expire in December, but we could look at using it later in the year (when Tenerife weather is notably better than mainland Europe) while going somewhere closer in summer. I’ll have a think…
