Bom dia from Ponte do Lima, which is shrouded in thick fog this morning!

Just to conclude my IHG “non-qualifying stay” shenanigans, after my 3rd email to IHG CS, an extra “adjustment” line appeared in my account and all my nights and points have been added, plus 5K for “good will”.

If anyone has the same problem with the IHG Destined rate, persist with IHG CS and be sure to mention the specific rate.

    What their Destined rate?

    Morning All,

Advice needed please. We are looking to book our next hotel through our Amex Platinum as we have found a reasonable slightly cheaper rate through The Hotel Collection, as opposed to booking direct.

The hotel is a Hilton. If we book through Amex are we then able to contact the hotel to try and get our Hilton Honours number registered against our booking so we get the Hilton Points plus our other Honours benefits?

Has anyone had any success in doing this previously?

    Thanks in advance!

@harrysjones21 You only get Hilton benefits/points/credit when you book direct. (Or through some corporate travel agents).

My understanding is that this is possible but only if you choose the pay at hotel option and don’t pay Amex directly. You can enter your Hilton membership number at the stage where you input credit card details to secure the reservation.
This certainly worked for us with a stay in London in February this year

And good morning from CW on a BA A380. Really can’t wait until their transformation programme extends to upgrading these old seats. And side stowage bins filthy with breadcrumbs – yuck.

Another suboptimal T5 security experience where most items went to the exception queue for manual interrogation vs the straight-through scan. Whilst I asked why our items always seem to get moved aside to help me for next time, they said there’s nothing I can do as the system is fully automated with no operator discretion. “At least the operator can now pinpoint the item in need of investigation” yet still huge queues and rather thorough checking going on.

But lesson somewhat learned and next time I’m tempted to indeed remove all electronics from the bag and thereby up my chances. 40 min Fast Track North experience and none of those RAG smiley things to pass my feedback properly.

    Any tips gratefully received..

You’ll likely be shouted at and told to put them back in the bag, at least at MAN you will be, LHR is likely to be similar.

Looking at buying some Hilton points in the current 100% bonus points sale to top up for a good value redemption. I’ve never bought Hilton points before – in general how quickly do they arrive please? The Hilton website says “Points will be posted to your Hilton Honors account within 48 hours” but do they usually transfer sooner than that? Typical case of not wanting the redemption to disappear in the meantime!

Pretty much instant in my (limited) experience.

@freckles thanks, I just bought them and they posted instantly so I’ve made my reward booking – very pleased!
