Weird one. Just checking my Hilton booking in Seattle for two weeks out to see if I could get it cheaper. Hotel is sold out (presumably full of pre-cruise guests) but…
…. My booking was originally for King room as i book the cheapest as have Gold and could be upgraded.
Booking now shows an upgraded room (with Peleton). I thought it was only upgraded on arrival (got a top suite recently at Old Trafford cricket ground on arrival) but presumably they’ve shuffled things early?
Good morning from Le Royal Meridien Dubai. Very hazy, the Atlantis barely visible in the distance.
A bizarre BA experience on the flight; a 787 with F and two J cabins. I was seated as usual in 5K, the first row of J. 2E and 2F in F cabin remained empty until shortly before departure, a child of around 4 walked up and sat in 2F. Followed shortly by a young bloke in a tracksuit (JDB trigger warning) being moved from 8K J to 2E F to better accommodate a family group that were scattered through the front J cabin.
Anyway back to the child….He was then visited at his seat by father and sister, and later the mother. This continued throughout the flight, with the curtain being regularly tossed open in front if me as the parents made their visits. Granted the not-altogether-quiet crew do pass through the curtain during a flight, but this was quite something else.
I think I mostly found it odd in that I was seated right there, in 5K, as a solo travelling Gold. Surely the crew could have discreetly moved me to 2F, and solved their J cabin seating matter more harmoniously. Instead there was this obvious sight of upgrades that stuck out like sore thumbs and did not go unnoticed by the couple seated in 1K and 2K, who had the child’s parents rear ends bent towards them throughout the flight.
P.S. Due to the fussing in the aisle over this child, my request for a clothes hanger was fulfilled by the crew handing it to a passenger on his way back from the toilet and asking him to drop it to me.
@BWS – that sounds like a situation that was as ridiculous as it was inappropriate. I guess there was bound to be a tracksuit involved in making a fuss about their child’s seating.
It feels symptomatic of the calibre and poor training of BA cabin crew – they don’t have proper protocols and are given too much leeway to make decisions without the nous to do so. All hopelessly unprofessional.
More importantly, have a great time in Dubai.
