    Good afternoon

Staying at both Intercontinentals in Washington next month (always nice to say next month now it’s the 1st June) – IC The Willard (The Willard Suite booked) and IC The Wharf (Compass Suite booked) However, neither mention Club Lounges which is disappointing. Should we ask or expect anything in lieu of no lounge? I know that’s an odd question – but unsure of the history behind why they don’t have a lounge……was it Covid? Was there even a lounge? Thought IC usually have lounges. As know in such instances they give you something because the lounges are closed etc. Asked the hotel but vague response on this. For reference – Diamond with lounge pass.

Also – Flying BA in F on A380. Both kids asking if there is a snack bar set up the galley? Know you can basically ask for anything but they like the seek and find option better 🙂
Know the 777 offers a dedicated area for snacks and refreshments etc, but can’t remember on A380.

It is some years ago now but The Willard was the worst IC I ever stayed in. It is beautiful, a grand dame of hotel but the customer service was aimed at those who care nothing for the cost and never check a bill.

It’s location is perfect for WH and capitol. Hope you have booked the Pentagon tour… if you still can. A great experience!

Am I right to be fed up – booked a hotel on a fully flexible and no deposit rate and then out of the blue they take the full amount for the stay. My intention was to pay with GHA$ on checkout. Contacted the hotel and they admit it’s a mistake but it will take four weeks for a refund (it’s not a small amount of money). What should I do ?

I have a zero tolerance for this nonsense and if the refund is not instant then it’s straight to charge back. Never fails as the charge is put on hold instantly.

@executiveclubber – it was a very decent bottle of wine from the hotel’s own list on this occasion!

You get the $20 Ambassador credit as well, of course which might buy one drink.

I just wanted to take a moment to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone here at HeadforPoints. The knowledge, opportunities, and value I’ve gained through this community have truly been incredible.

Because of the loyalty schemes and the tips shared on this site and forum, I’ve been able to unlock quality hotel stays and travel in business class — experiences I never would have dreamed possible before discovering this site. I also enjoyed an incredible experience at the Qatar airways 93rd box to see Mo Giligan last night at the o2. I’m enjoying my final night (which will be a truly memorable highlight) in a suite at the Kimpton Fitzroy in London, thanks to a IHG suite upgrade award. These are experiences I could never have accessed without the advice and contributions shared here.

To everyone who contributes to HeadforPoints: thank you. Your insights have transformed the way I travel, and I’m deeply grateful for the generosity of knowledge and support. Here’s to many more aspirational trips and experiences made possible by this wonderful community and hope to see as many of you as possible at the upcoming HfP summer party!

@Paul is right. An immediate call to your cardco for a chargeback if refund is not processed literally immediately.

It’s one of those old lies hotels do ” the charge was processed accidentally” ” our lift is just broken today” etc. I’m sure you will get refunded, but are you sure you wish to stay there now? I’d be cancelling as soon as the money is back.

If it was a debit card, then up to 4 weeks. Credit card I would expect 3-4 days and would be annoyed if it were longer.

Thanks for this…..we can’t do the Pentagon tour as you have to be a resident etc. However, we do have a tour of the White House which will be really interesting – which my American sister in law arranged for us. Had the official email “On behalf of the President and the First Lady, we look forward to welcoming you for the tour of the White House” which we have responded to with our passport details etc. Should be interesting. Only there for four days before flying down to Orlando for two weeks.

We are at the IC Wharf for those 4 days. The compass suite has an amazing view of the Potamic River. The Willard is only for one night when we come back from Orlando before flying home, so not too bothered for one night but the suite looks lovely either way 🙂

Wear a MAGA cap and you might even be invited for a selfie with Trump.
