This is today’s chat thread.
If you have specific questions about Avios, hotels or credit cards, please ask them in the appropriate forum and not here. This thread is a good place to post interesting deals you have spotted or your general thoughts on travel and all things miles and points. Thank you for contributing.
Morning all. I’ll go first today. thank you for all the tips etc. that you gave me on yesterdays chat thread about flying with Qatar, most appreciated. Am off to see if I can find the seat map for the flights, and explore the ‘buy points’ deal of 60% bonus when you buy Avios via Qatar Airways Privilege, to pay for said seats.
@Misty – If you are travelling in Economy Comfort or Economy Convenience, you can select a Standard Seat when you book your flight. If you are travelling in Economy Classic, there is a fee.
@Misty Aerolopa is good for seat maps if you know the aircraft you will be on.
Hi @Gordon the electronic ticket receipt is just telling me Economy no further information than that. I assume that as I chose the least miles redemption I am in the cheap seats, so will have to pay. I might go for extra leg room on the nighttime legs.
@Man-of-Kent It’s a Boeing 777-300er, so I should hopefully be able to find it on Aerolopa thanks for the tip.
Question for those who have flown Emirates premium economy.
Kuala Lumpur to London – one way.
Peak summer 2026.
Overnight flight(s)
BA Club World works out at about £912.50 pp when you take into account a companion voucher. This is currently the old seat and we had a subpar experience on this very recently (everything was poor). No idea if the full 787-9 fleet will be refurbished in 11 months from now.
Emirates Premium Economy, *fully flex* is about £600 pp with a 4 hour connection in Dubai.
Video reviews look very good and I reckon it might be possible to sleep on this, especially if able to get the front row with nobody reclining into you.
Would you take Emirates PE (looks like a380 on both legs, but occasionally a 777 on the KUL – DXB leg) given the alternative as we know it today is the awful BA 787-9?
Keep in mind the price, but also the companion voucher will go unused otherwise (and I am not someone who would create a trip somewhere else just to use it). Also the BA flight is non-stop and the Emirates flight has a long connection in the middle of my sleeping time.
I may just book the Emirates flight given I can cancel for a full refund, pending any relevant input here and any change of circumstances (e.g. Qatar decide to release seats in English school summer holidays).
Thanks.

I’d take the direct flight always when available.
