This is today’s chat thread.

Morning from a – for now – unnamed GHA discovery hotel in Africa. The staff seem to be trying very hard to redeem my discovery dollars on my stay but so far no luck – and they’ve hinted that I’d have to pay cash if they don’t get it working. Totally unacceptable when we are talking about £2k+. Any suggestions on how to proceed? They confirmed (twice) that they accepted discovery dollars before my stay. I check out tomorrow.
Has anyone got an e mail address for someone at Qatar Airways that can help in duty of care payment for overnight hotel and taxi.
Booked on the BA site using Avios, for flight on Qatar. BA said ask Qatar, Qatar have said sorry and not much else.
Flight canceled last month and returned to LHR no agents, left to own devices. Booked Premier Inn ( T4 ) and had to get taxi to T3 from T4. £200 worth total. Travel insurance wont pay either as no final letter from Qatar saying they wont pay.
Not seeking compensation, as it was outside airline control ( some rockets at Dohar ) but they still have a duty of care. Others have been paid.
Thanks in advance

Try contacting GHA Discovery and asking them to assist the hotel with redeeming your GHA D$.

If the cancelled flight was operated by QR inbound to the UK, EC261 doesn’t apply and, even if it did, the Article 9 Right to Care wouldn’t apply on arrival at your final destination.
BA will often pay such consequential costs/losses in these circumstances but does so as a matter of goodwill not any EC261 obligation. QR is usually less generous.
