I understand it is the passengers responsibility to check, but to simplify matters, there should be a standard size/rule, across the board, I’ve seen many questions on hfp regarding this.

Harmonisation of baggage size requirements was one of the things requested by European consumer groups as part of the consultation on forthcoming EC261 changes, but as they are not in the scope of the existing rules it isn’t part of the package signed off by ministers last week.

New theme park proposed in northern Portugal. It looks intriguing but it’s rather odd that they would build it in a location with (relatively) little tourism and lots of rain!

A bit like the planned Universal Studios in Bedford…”taking in Luton and Milton Keynes”!!

I have to disagree. There is no such thing as a standard seat, a standard overhead bin, or a standard aircraft, so it really is for each airline to determine what people can take on board, and pax need to understand the terms they agree to when they book.

People also need to understand that when you add on all the extras, a LCC might not be cheaper than a legacy airline.

@Michael, At least Universal has a famous name to trade on! It caught my eye as we’re staying not far from there in August (Ilha Boega, not Bedford 😂).

Re hand luggage sizes, you can’t blame people for wanting to maximise cabin baggage allowances when, as @Alex G says, the cost of taking a checked bag can be so high. £50 each way is fairly standard now!

    Oh god, no.

The Algarve, Lisbon, and Porto have been spoiled by mass tourism and overdevelopment, but there are still a lot of beautiful parts of Portugal, that should be left as they are.

Universal, OTOH, will be built on a brownfield site (a former brickworks). The development is welcomed by most locals who will benefit from the jobs being created and the money and infrastructure it will bring to the area, and it is within an hour of London.

I looked at EasyJet for upcoming flights to Faro. They wanted an extra £60 each way for one checked bag, and were most expensive than BA.

    (BA £217 return, U2 £271 return)

It’s very odd and I can’t see it being successful because it’s really quite difficult to get to unless you live in northern Portugal or northern Spain. As you say, Universal will be within easy reach of LTN/LHR/LGW and others. Ilha Boega has just OPO and even smaller (and poorly connected) VGO within an hour’s drive.

It would make more sense to put something akin to Six Senses DV on it.

Greetings from LGW south terminal. Plaza premium lounge is undertaking improvements so the only option on level 4 was the plaza express. We couldn’t get in due to not pre booking.

No1 lounge also said they’re only taking bookings so we’re now in My Lounge for some breakfast.
