Anybody been to Tromso? Looking at going in January probably staying in the Moxy. Any tips or advice appreciated. Rovaniemi is probably a bit out of budget for a short break as we’d want to stay in an igloo!
We went in March thus year and had an amazing time. Our main aim of going was to see tbe Northern Lights which we were lucky enough to do. We staying at Clarion the Edge which was in the centre of town. I think the Moxy is out by the airport it’s not too far but may be a bit of a pain if you were going to be joining tours rather than driving yourself.
Ah perfect thanks. I don’t know why I just assumed the moxy was in town! I’ll check more central options. I don’t know regarding driving, like I’m pretty confident, but this is an extreme!
Regarding Tromso, it might be an idea to start a thread in the destination forum. I stayed in the Enter Amalie. Very good location, maybe 200 metres from the main meeting point for most activities. Clarion the Edge is literally across from the meet. With regards to the Amalie it was nothing special but it was warm, clean, friendly and the breakfast was very good. It certainly did the job. This was February 11 years ago. Would definitely recommend somewhere more central than the Moxy. Would also suggest a car won’t be necessary unless you have a particular out of town destination in mind or you are intending to go aurora hunting on your own rather than with a tour. You’ll get transport included to all the activities you can book. Honestly I found 5 days plenty there.
