@BBbetter We’ve had crew leave my airline for BA, many come back within a year or two when they realise they can earn more and be home most nights.

But the pressing question is do they play that annoying music on a loop in the cockpit too?

Good morning from the holiday inn Regent’s Park.

Wasn’t expecting much from here, after staying at the holiday inn Bloomsbury last year and thinking it was a bit of a dump.

But the holiday inn Regent’s Park is very surprisingly.
Looks a bit depressing from the outside, but the public spaces, bar restaurant etc are all decent.

I’m in a room on the top floor, while not massive space wise, it’s actually very well equipped and nice, and even working air con!

Sure the corridors with the old doors look a bit naff, but the rooms and the rest of the place is actually very nice, and very close to underground stations too.

Much better than the holiday inn I had in Bern last week for sure.

Agree re the Holidau inn Bloomsbury an awful eighties dump not touched in forty years

Priority Pass gripe – Mrs tried to get into the lounge at Leeds Bradford with her Plat Amex PP but was declined, even though it was 6.30am in the morning and she was a solo traveller – she was given the “booked up” line. I’ve had this happen to me in Manchester before (again, solo traveling) – obviously the lounge are trying to prioritise paid bookings but it really does annoy when this happens! Aside from letting Priority Pass know is there any other way of raising this?

Did she try grovelling, I find this essential when dealing with the hospitality industry in the uk

@HampshireHog No, as soon as the last passenger has disembarked we turn it off!

Have we got a date, and when tickets are going on sale, for the HfP Summer party.

The morning after the raffle prize supplier gets final sign off!

Thanks. I am guessing that means there is an impressive prize on the way.

I used to stay in the HI Regents Park quite regularly, maybe about once a month, about 10 to 15 years ago. It was fine but sounds like it has undergone a major upgrade based on your description. It was at this hotel that the very young (female) check-out assistant tried to charge me for my additional guest at breakfast. When I protested that it was just me she gave a knowing wink and stated that many of their guests invited an additional overnight guest but they did have to pay for breakfast as well!!! I started to use the HI Mayfair after that.

Vegetarian food in CW – IAD to LHR

We fly home on Sunday 1 June from IAD – row 6 in CS. I am vegetarian (no meat or fish) my husband is not. Am I better pre-ordering a special meal or hoping the veggie options on the main menu will be OK? Last year we flew PE from Boston and the special meal was inedible – the crew apologised! I gather the CW breakfast is not veggie but then we could breakfast in the arrivals lounge at T5 before the long drive home.

There are usually plenty of veggie options with the breakfast, e.g. cheese omelette or granola with fruit and yogurt. With the main meals it can be a bit hit and miss, I sometimes choose a veggie option if it’s stuff I like (especially cheese and mushrooms) but it could also be based around something I detest, like cauliflower!

Flyertalk (I’m referencing them a lot today!) has a long thread on meals in the different cabins, you can usually find a menu posted for your flight at the start of the month in which you’re travelling.

    Thank you – that’s helpful
