Good morning from BA34 heading back from Kuala Lumpur.
This is a Boeing 787 with old club world seating.
I cannot believe the huge difference between the flight experience on this plane versus a Qatar 787 (without q suite).
Everything is worse than Qatar. Literally everything.
Toilets rarely cleaned
Crew ignoring your presence while they chat to each other in the galley until you have to stand next to them and say excuse me (they know full well you are standing there politely looking at them whilst they avoid eye contact).
Crew talking loudly through the night (this was an even bigger problem on the outbound BA33 where I had to go in the galley and ask them to keep it down – they started up again ten minutes later).
Crew quite stern from the start.
Main course fish (cod) stank and was so tough & dry that I returned it after one bite. No other food available to me other than another starter and some bread.
Dessert options were limited to a choice of two which didn’t appeal to me. So I have eaten two starters in the past 11 hours. Plus the nuts with the first drink.
No protective offers of additional food or drinks.
IFE is the standard small poor quality screen.
Storage option is the one tray that is inaccessible in bed mode.
No pyjamas.
List goes on and on.
I’m not holding high expectations for the breakfast.
Honestly such a bad all round service offering on a 13+ hours flight.
I genuinely think it might be worth spending more on a Qatar redemption (without the ability to apply a companion voucher) even with a connection. Unfortunately Qatar rewards seats during English school holidays are far harder to obtain than BA seats. I think that’s the only advantage to BA – if you’re prepared to go through the midnight (or 1am) t-355 nonsense you might be able to get rewards seats on peak dates when flights are released.
Disappointed.

That’s why I have done exactly this for a trip in Q4!
QR, LGW-SGN-LGW, Qsuite on the LGW-DOHA, DOHA-LGW legs, 2.5 hour layover outbound, and 8.5 hour layover on the return in Doha, booked the complementary transfer and hotel in Doha on the return yesterday, available for layovers of 8-24 hour duration.
I can use the companion vouchers, and BUV’s another day.
NOTE- Redemption bookings attract a $75 fee for Y tickets, and $100 fee for J tickets, cash tickets in all classes, attract no fee, still worth every penny.
It’s quite widely known that QR far exceed BA for hard product and service!
I won’t entertain BA old J seats, not viable now in my book.
