Just noticed in the Nectar app that instead of ‘saving’ Sainsbury’s points offers you now ‘unlock’ them.
I wonder how many geniuses they’ve had working on that project.
Probably just a project manager and a UI/UX designer. Really not that big of a deal!
My hotel in a Ubud is a SLH, maybe it also gets cancelled to keep making this holiday unforgettable! 😀
Is that the Viceroy?
If so, and hopefully if you do get to stay can you kindly feedback about the on-site Cascades Restaurant?Good luck.
…Just to say he has finished his GCSEs now so he has a few months we need to fill up before sixth form starts.. something like this will probably more interesting for him than other possible ideas we have!
A trip to Lourdes or Teruel Airports could be interesting https://www.airplaneboneyards.com
Myrtle Avenue near Heathrow can be good. Also Heathrow viewing stand near Newall Road.
Since Finnair are saying they can’t guarantee baggage delivery tomorrow, we are travelling just with hand luggage for 2 weeks, first time ever. Maybe we’ve learnt a proper skill for once!
@OptimusPrime HBO is the way forward – it is so liberating to check in online and just head to security at the airport and then not play the baggage carousel roulette at the other end!
Lots of great resources online about hacks to assist with lightening the travel load – be ruthless. My top tip is to always leave a little room in the cabin case. You can always buy clothes away but it is a real hassle if everything is totally jammed in with no spare space.
Develop a packing list with all the essentials on it and then whittle it down as you do trips and don’t use or find particular stuff useful.
Welcome to the club!

Yes, as you can imagine our trolleys and backpacks look like inflated balloons right now… hope to learn more tricks for the future!
I have seen we have coin laundries near our hotels in Singapore and Ubud. In Lombok it’ll be more complicated and looks like we’ll have to hand wash.
@princess I’d love to have the ticket if it’s available. My email address is supercheekyhana at gmail dot com
Thanks!
I actually need two as would love to take my aviation mad nephew!
Remember the party is ‘points’ event rather than an ‘aviation’ one.
The two aren’t the same thing at all.
If her Nephew wins the raffle prize, of Two business class flights to Australia, courtesy of Malaysia Airlines (Aviation related) I’m sure he would have thought his attendance had been worth it!
We can’t give raffle tickets to under 18s, note.

I did think that and looked at your post, but It said all attendees? Ok if his aunt wins the top prize then.
Special offer for Aether – 99 quid. Might be worth it if you’re going on holiday from MAN soon. https://experienceaether.com/experience/summer-special-cabin-bag/
“Any passenger travelling from Manchester Airport with cabin baggage can use the aether Summer Special package.”
Assuming this means HBO, though it’s poorly written. Shame as we have a late afternoon FR flight to ACE in October and I might have been tempted to try it. The trip (with dive gear) is too long for HBO, however!

37 marketing people and one developer.

Well, it did initially accept a FR departure with checked bags, but then stated that there’s no availability for my travel date!

BTW He might enjoy the Farnborough air show in July.
Duxford near Cambridge is great too – all year round !

A long wait though – Paris and Farnborough alternate, so no Farnborough Air Show until 2026 🙂
Duxford as suggested by @iaint65 , or RIAT, may be an idea.
Can anyone confirm whether booking the Hilton hotels in Hawaii with points means you don’t pay the resort fees. I know you never used to but not sure if that has changed. I have just booked 5 nights for 4 in Waikiki and booked 6 nights on Big Island (4 of them Hilton hotels). I have saved my Hilton points through promotions and credit card spend for years to do this redemption – all free nights in Hawaii. Spent 545K Hilton points on 9 nights saving me £3500 refundable rates. Hoping that we don’t have to pay the resort fees. Just secured the LAX-LHR-EDI flights this morning. Just got the flights to and from Hawaii to secure and we will be all set. This will complete our 50 states visited. Alaska is next week!

when we stayed at the Viceroy in September, we ate at Cascades twice. It was very nice. We didn’t have the opportunity to experience Aperetif, but did enjoy Pinstripe, the 30”s style cocktail bar.
Looks like Virgin Atlantic have started loading reward seats for Seoul (ICN). Nothing inbound as of 12:30 today but here is the distribution of the outbound seats in UC. First seat March 29th 2026, through to May 14th.

Have a look at Dr Beckmann laundry sheets for hand washing, easier than risking white powder in hand luggage.

Congrats from a fellow all 50’er
Clicked on the wrong icon on my phone earlier and discovered the Curve app works with BA’s free messaging WiFi.
In my experience all websites and apps work on the SH fleet, just very, very slowly. The LH planes seem smarter at blocking anything but messaging.
Email from Amex asking us to enrol in the new BAC earning TPs program! Apparently last earning date is Feb 1st 2026… sooo excited, not. But will be spending on the BAPP anyway. See if we retain at bronze.
