For all you Gold Sparrows out there 🐥 I see that RJ’s Royal Club (https://www.rj.com/en/royal-club) is now promoting the option to purchase Tier Miles.
Given there has been quite a bit of chat about the routes to renewing status acquired in matches recently it may be of interest, although I cannot see any further details as I don’t have the requisite minimum of at least 5,000 TMs in my account…
That’s interesting. I only have 3k and just have a couple more flights booked before my Gold Sparrow status flies away so don’t think I’ll get to the minimum 5k. Would be interested to see what the cost would be though if any others have got enough – @titaniumostrich @Bungalow?
Do amex still offer pro rata refunds?
Anyone else seeing BA cash prices significantly higher than usual for next couple of days (I’m seeing this on all domestic routes Wednesday and Thursday to London – not checked anything else). Assume some cheap fare buckets have been ‘lost’ in the update
BA “you may not be able to book reward flights due to maintenance”
Yep, banner across BA home page:
“Reward Flight bookings
We’re currently making some planned changes behind the scenes so you may not be able to book Reward Flights online or via the contact centres. We’ll finish this activity as quickly as possible.”I have half a million Avios. I’ll assume the position now…
OWE here checking in for EI-operated BA-marketed flight from LHR to DUB. BA website says I can use “business or club check in” yet officious teal-clad master of the queues reckons somewhat otherwise when I used the equivalent “priority” desk, which has no signage about eligibility. Which is right?
I wouldn’t lose a drop of sweat over whether I got to use the EI priority check in desk at LHR T2 or not. They have a common staff member checking all IDs before permitting entry to the bag drop desks, at which point one usually gets directed to the next available desk (priority or not) anyway. The EI service out of LHR is almost akin to a shuttle service, so the check in desks are always open and queues rarely form.
Good morning from Westin Bora Bora!
We’ve had a wonderful points stay here and would highly recommend it to others!Quick question on BA security when responding to queries… I left an item on board our LA flight and got in touch with BA who now are asking me for my passport number, address and partial card number to even confirm if item was found. The e-mail came from BA Priority team. This feels a bit much. Is it a new thing?
The BA website (I avoid the app) just asked me for my fingerprint.
When did BA IT join the 21st century?Do amex still offer pro rata refunds?
Yes – I downgraded my personal platinum card to gold over the weekend and the credit for 2 months’ membership fee refund is already showing.

Thanks – i suppose i wonder would this still work on a full cancellation though of a BAPP now the 241 voucher has turned up?
SHould be fine – I plan to do the same next week, after last month’s Avios post.
Could be coincidence but more availability has appeared for Sydney on the BA website, mostly PE with a little bit of CW. I’ve been looking most days and there has been nothing, unfortunately not for my dates though.

Just had an email re this, not got the time to look into this and it’s probably junk but thought I’d post it. Email states hotel matches. L

Anybody know roughly what time the Avios from the Barclaycard Avios plus usually transfer over? Hoping they hit today to book some QR flights. Never really looked this closely as never been waiting for them before!
@JakeWS It was the 3rd last month.
Eeek! Hope the flights are still there tomorrow then. Thanks.
If booking via BA, the issues with booking avios flights today may work in your favour!
Been trying all evening to get BA to take payment on both APP and website with multiple saved/new cards but payment keeps failing. Any ideas of a work around?
NB- I notice there’s another IT update scheduled tonight until 07:30 Thursday; hopefully this will fix everything 🤣

You’re not going to like the message I’ve just seen in my Barclays app – basically they’ve got a problem and the Avios can’t be sent at the moment.
Check your notifications when you log in, you may have something similar.
The flights have been out for a few months but down to only 2 left on each!
Just checked the Barclays app, no notification for me, and an email saying my 25,000 welcome bonus are in my BA account. However also no points in my account.
Hopefully it’s all linked to the BA issues and I can wake up tomorrow and give them a call!
For anybody interested also BA allow 72 hours in Doha if you call them and still class it one flight so you pay the lesser Avios than 2 flights.

The 30,000 requisite points to retain Gold Sparrow are priced at around $1,000.
However the final bullet point in the T&C’s tells you that purchased miles do not count towards status.
Pity, that would have been some deal 🙄Could be coincidence but more availability has appeared for Sydney on the BA website, mostly PE with a little bit of CW. I’ve been looking most days and there has been nothing, unfortunately not for my dates though.
Thanks a lot for the tip, I’ve just bagged a one way 241 syd -Lhr in J for next spring, having been searching for ages every permutation of Per/kul/dps/sin to somewhere near or in the UK on QR.
There’s something strange going on with BAs IT even by their usual standards. Got quoted 170k avios plus 867 gbp on the summary of costs but the actual taxes came up on the purchase as 573 gbp.
Also strange: a now-you-see-it-now-you-don’t availability on QR via ba.com on KUL -LGW in J (4 seats) and DPS – LGW both at 170k avios plus 576 gbp, but won’t let me complete a booking. Looks kinda like a RFS deal that’s not gone live??@Return2sender That’s great news, I’ll keep hunting, 3 months to go and already have PE so it’s not the end of the world.
More options for those planning a trip to Thailand.

Got to it by scrolling through dates, not by doing a month by month search. Got as far as the payment page but no further. Phoned BA who just said all their booking systems were down and couldn’t book it for me.
