    @JakeWS from £55 but increases depending on day/time. https://www.manchesterairport.co.uk/at-the-airport/airport-lounges/1903-lounge/

Personally I think it’s rubbish and at T2 in particular the queuing system to get to the desk to actually get entry irritates me. I’d rather just get a coffee and sit in a quiet area of T2.

Sorry poor explanation from me, I have the priority pass so it’s the fee on top of that.

I too despise the T2 lounge situation, I’ve spent many a time walking out that corridor muttering about how bad it is, especially when they don’t have the signs out saying no Priority Pass so you have to queue to find out. We’re flying Virgin but only in Economy due to not having a spare 32 million points for upper, so hoping to at least load up on some Bacon and Sausage pre flight, then off to Starbucks for a coffee that doesn’t make me wince while drinking.

I’m not aware that you can upgrade, maybe check the PP app?

MAN are crowing in the media this week about their amazing new T2 extension which includes a Lego shop. Who is going to suddenly want to buy big boxes of Lego and take them on planes as hand luggage in already overcrowded bins.

Maybe they’ve done a deal with the LCCs that you can take an extra bag of Lego onboard, like you can with Duty Free (if that’s still a thing)? One of the benefits of lounge access is that you avoid “pester power” scenarios with the small people on your booking, if you have them!

Apparently there’s going to be a “northern” food court, so hopefully an expansion of Greggs!

New shops and eateries are Lego, Rituals, Pandora, Starbucks, Joe & The Juice and Upper Crust.

    I hope you’re suitably excited.

Coming later – Chanel, Grindsmith by WH Smith, a Fever Tree cocktail and champagne bar, and the Great Northern Market – a food court with a selection of street food options.

I booked a flight on BA last night using 2 BA e-vouchers. If i cancel within the 24hour do i get the vouchers back? And is it immediate?

Did anyone else get the pre book priority pass email from Amex? Does this mean it’s back for a while now ?

As part of your Platinum Cardmembership you have access to 4 complimentary lounge pre-book entitlements to use in 2025, and another 8 complimentary pre-book entitlements to use per calendar year between 1 January 2026 and 31 December 2027.1

@davefl, what on earth is “Grindsmith”, some sort of hook-up service based in a stationery outlet 😱

Street food, lol, we don’t exactly have the climate to have built up a huge demand for such a thing! “Great Northern Market” puts me in mind of black pudding, old ladies’ smalls and pick n mix of a dubious vintage 😂

@davefl, oh the coffee thing 😂😂😂. I had not linked it to the shop!

It just says additional fee, but no mention of how much.

Who needs a bin, I’d be building my 4ft Disney castle right there on the plane!

To be fair to them though, Joe & The Juice is a great but overpriced addition. I’ll be having a tunacado and carrot cake on the plane.

You’re thinking “world famous Bury Market” but I think they’re aiming for more like the Altrincham Market House food hall – overcrowded and overpriced

I quite like it, but not for £55. I would rather spend that in the bar under the escalators.

I love Bury Market. No objection to the first and third things on that list. I’m not an old lady so don’t need the second.

Once bought a a Yankee Candle advent calendar for a fiver. £ 25 elsewhere. Sure it was the previous years but candles don’t expire!

That is cheap for Yankee Candles. Were they proper candles or tea lights?!

Such markets were my haunt on Saturdays in my youth. There was always a stall where you could buy a cheap 3-pack of tapes to record the Top 40 and have your ears pierced for £1.

Anybody have any recommendations for Latour-de-Carol in France? I have two days there next week and need things to do / places to eat 😎

I passed through Bury market every day for years. It’s way better than most. Disgusted at what Oldham council have done to Tommyfield, so happy for Bury to survive as it is.

@Norsksaint thank you . We’re picking up a sailing in Reykjavik so that’s another reason I’d rather not have the bags checked through as hopefully there’s less likelihood of them not arriving in REK with us ( nothing worse than arriving for a cruise and your luggage is elsewhere).

Have a great time; great part of the world to see by sea!
The other “hack” for SAS/OSL, is head upstairs once you are through, and go to the SAS luggage machines. You should be able to print your tags for the following day and save yourself some minutes the following morning. If you feel up to it, SAS will also do twlight checkin. We quite regularly turn non-essential bags in the night prior and then only take to the hotel what we need, dishing in the final bags in the morning. I’m nervous like you, but hasn’t failed us so far. Also download the SAS app, puts BA’s to shame and will have your luggage receipts in there, and will flash up once loaded on the plane.

@CamFlyer Another East Anglia resident here and we used Sofitel Park, Stay & Fly last month from T5. While it’s never going to be the cheapest it’s certainly very convenient as the car park is under the hotel – very useful in bad weather and you can walk to the terminal under cover. Will be using again.

To worsen the situation, after check out a clerk chased after me to pay for the parking (which was includes on my prepaid rate). The room was fine, but I after this experience I won’t be returning.

I was flying from T2, so the Sofitel didn’t make sense. I have used the Renaissance and Marriott before flights from T2/T3 the past few months, and will keep those at the top of my list.

24 votives and a glass jar. The votives are usually around £1.25 so 24 for a fiver was a considerable saving!

I remember taking my 10p pocket money to Stockton market. 2p each way for the bus, 4p on sweets and 2p in the money box! Had the occasional visit to Woolworths pic’n’mix when I had birthday and Christmas money!

Did you try and record the hit parade on radio one trying to start and stop to about getting the DJ chat?

Ah those were the days. Kids today don’t know what they missed out on!

    @CamFlyer

Given the ease of inter terminal travel these days I wouldn’t stay at a hotel just because it might be closer to a particular terminal

I always stay at the T4 CP now. On the two occasions o stayed at the Sofitel was overpriced and dated.

They also do a car park deal as well.

Just wasted over an hour trying to book a multi city BA holiday, fails at the final screen. Phoned up the gold line, they can’t help with BA holidays. phoned BA holidays, after a loonngg time on hold they can’t manage to book it unless they put one of the transatlantic flights into first, which bumps up the cost too much. Seats definitely available in business and they can see that. Best advice they can give is to try again tomorrow. Can book exactly the same flights through Expedia for the same cost, though would have to pay for the hire car separately. Booking through BAH to get the tier points.

Simple transatlantic trip starting in one European city and ending in another, outbound and return via LHR.

    So frustrating!

    Posted this last night.

This morning had the same problem again – BAH could only get it to work by changing one flight to first, even though there are seats in business. Managed to get it all to work by changing the offending flight from BA to an AA flight on a BA codeshare departing an hour later. So BA’s IT means that I fly AA instead of BA. Deep sigh!

Great news – easyJet appear to have backtracked on their Flight Club closure. As a regular eJ flyer, it was great for changing flights without incurring fees.

Some might say flying AA is a bonus! Plus ex LHR the better T3 lounges.

But fear not BA will still get a share of the fare due to the Joint Venturr.

But due to fare construction there are always lots of glitches. It’s not always down to IT.

I once had a BA Holiday where it was cheaper to fly JFK-SFO as part of the trip in business rather than economy. And various options were only available on codeshares rather than the prime flight numbers as well as connections only available with some combinations but not others.
