Buying an apple product via the BA Exec Club shopping channel works well. However, beware when buying more than one product with different shipping dates on the same order. Experience (twice) has been the bonus miles are awarded on the first part of the order e.g. an accessory in stock, while the main purchase e.g. a new iPad which ships in a couple of weeks (and worth the most bonus miles) gets no miles awarded. The BA team is very quick to sort this out when all the relevant information is provided, but if you don’t spot the problem, you’ll miss out on the miles.
Sounds like the best thing to do going forward is to make sure you track and purchase one item per order then?
You might find that it is because new Apple products, on release, do not qualify for avios?

Yes, I agree on the new items advice – I have been caught out by this policy several times.
Best to get something that has been out for around 4-6 months in order to get your much wanted chunk of Avios.
Also be advised that using something like Perk for Work (for a small corporate discount, typically ~2%) will disqualify you from getting Avios rewarded. It’s one or the other.
Yes, ordering one item at a time will avoid the problem but the system should be able to cope with more than one item. It is a system error – all items purchased did qualify, and BA Executive Club were very prompt in awarding the missing miles after they had checked the order and invoice numbers and the products ordered.
