Spotted that infants who turn 2 on return leg can through BA will just pay infant fare and get their own seat.

Would this work on avios ticket where there isn’t extra reward seat availability?

    Yes!

Managed to get a First class seat on my return from Los Angeles with my son who turned two while we were away. Can’t remember the exact price though. This was an Avios booking

It should just be 10% of the adult avios price and the actual taxes/fees

Excellent! Is it right that flights can only be booked through the call centre? Website seems to indicate as much

My son is 5 now but I do recall having to call after booking our (adult) redemptions, was relatively painless

I think you book for them as an infant then call BA to get the seat allocated for the return journey.
