Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Children over two coats

Daughter about to hit her second birthday. Wonderful stuff, but she doesn’t realise this means no more cheap avios travel and seat sharing for dad to consider. Does she now pay full avios fare ie points and cash, or is there still a discount to adult fare. Thanks.

    Alas,

Avios booking: full adult avios and taxes
Cash booking: adult taxes but reduced price

I know this as we had a F-flight to LAX with our <2yr old booked for September 2020 (10% avios/tax), which was obviously cancelled during the pandemic. Now he’s taking up a full slot on our 2-4-1s! Little pain.

All is not lost. She might not cost you as much as you think!

No APD for under 16s in economy for example but there is for higher cabins.

For a cash fare she’ll get 25% discount on the base fare elements. Not sure about rewards. You could do some dummy bookings and then look at the fare breakdowns.

Thanks for replies. And she won’t even be able to drink her allowance of champagne to smooth over the cost!

Am I alone in finding the subject line hilarious? I’ve seen it a few times now, and each time I forget momentarily and expect to see comments on the best shop to buy toddler outerwear.

To soften the blow we’ve gone for the strategy of 2 x241 and taking a grandparent along with our soon to be 3 year old.
Softens the blow by only paying half the avios for her and we get some help with childcare on holiday. Only works until the 2nd one turns 2 of course…

Yeah. I keep coming back for someone to make a joke based on it 🤠

Personally, I would always take two coats over children every time. Coats are much more useful on holidays than kids are…
