Forums Other Flight changes and cancellations help Claiming delay compensation from Qatar!

  • 8 posts

Hi, has anyone had any luck claiming compensation from Qatar. We have a clear case (under the UK adopted 261 legislation), that is experiencing over a 6 hour delay from a flight from London Heathrow. We have emailed the airline 4 times over the space of two months now. We can now escalate the issue to the CAA – but I received an auto-reply saying they cant help with an airline that uses an ADR – to then provide a list of airlines that use an ADR and Qatar are not on it?? Will I really have to use the small claims legal route to get the compensation that is owed?

Make sure you have been emailing the right people – have you had confirmation of a complaint from Qatar? Previously they have been good at responding to me, even if I don’t agree with what they say…

You can escalate to CAA – they will consider Qatar cases, and although their decision is not binding on the airline, it is relatively easy to pursue them through MCOL for the costs if the CAA have said they are owed, and a judge is likely to follow similar thought processes, and it shows you have done everything you can.

Thanks – yes they’ve shot themselves in the foot a bit as i’ve had autoreplies assigning a case number saying it would be looked into. But then nothing. CAA have now taken the complaint (spoke a very nice and helpful person this morning) and will pursue it for me.
