Has anyone flown CE out of Stansted and can advise on what the ground product is like?
I would never bother out of LCY as the benefits are marginal, but interested to know if there is much value in it from Stansted.
No. But I’ve got flights booked in December if you can wait for an answer. Though tbh for us the ability to fly BA from STN with children and avoid the journey to LCY/LHR/LGW trumps pretty much everything.
There isn’t a lounge mentioned on the OW database for STN so on that front it’s the same as LCY.
STN is obviously a much larger airport so security can take longer but has more land and airside facilities and a requirement to be there earlier than LCY.
The STN flights are operated BA City Flyer so the same as operate ex LCY and a limited schedule operating on weekends only – so all seats are 2×2 so no guaranteed free middle seat in CE for example.
Personally I would only choose STN if it was far more convenient to travel / from there and it suited your trip plans to be away for a full 7 days otherwise you’ll have to return on a BA flight to another airport anyway or use, if available, a different airline to get back to STN
There is a Priority Pass lounge – but good luck getting in. I tend to sit in Cafè Nero instead, though that too can be heaving. Security queues often look bad but in my experience tend to move pretty fast and are well managed. Always travel with cabin bags only and already online checked in, so never experienced queues for check in / bag drop – though travelling CE I’m sure you’ll be fine. Passport control on way back I’ve always found a breeze.
