This is a matter of opinion, but that’s why I’m here.
All other things being equal (timings, availability) I’ve priced up a trip to the Far East and one way, it’s going to cost me £250pp more (for extra Avios) to fly QR Q Suite Vs BA.
A few things:
1- Never been Q Suite. Do you think it’s worth the extra?
2 – Do I get lounge in Doha on an award? Seems to be mixed answers
3 – Do I pay for seats on QR? If the answer is no,then 1 becomes nearly irrelevant.
I don’t have status.
Cheers
Alex
2 – yes, lounge for reward ticket
3 – yes, free seat selection for reward ticket
Thanks. My final issue is this.. Is MAN-DPS on QR, MAN-SIN on BA. It looks likes the QR awards might come available after the BA ones, so I guess there’s a risk I wait for QR and lose the BA.
With free seat selection and with Q suite being on the bucket list, the cost seems neither here nor there, but again, views appreciated.
Q Suite is lovely, and definitely better than CS, but the one thing to be wary of with QR is their infamous equipment swaps. You may end up sat in something different.
QSuite is far, far superior to Club Suite. The lounge in Doha is also a very nice lounge. Go to the one at The Garden, it’s slightly further from the gates but also newer.
The only downside to QSuite is that it’s not direct.
With regards to booking BA to SIN vs QR to DPS, just book BA to SIN when it comes up, and if you find availability QR to DPS later, cancel the BA reward for £35pp. Peace of mind that you’ll at least have something booked.
Each to their own but I much prefer the food on BA and definitely prefer one long flight rather than stopping half way in Doha.

To confirm your view, the food on QR is infinitely better! Setting aside any personal preferences, my issue with BA long haul food is that it is systematically defective – uncooked pasta, split sauces, burnt vegetables so that a carrot looks like a vanilla pod, meat such as chicken so overcooked that it’s hard and fibrous and more. They overpromise with an elaborate menu but under-deliver. The food on return flights is usually worse than ex-LHR, including terrible plastic cheese. Plus the wine on BA is atrocious vs QR which offers wine two shelves and price brackets above BA. I just love flying so two flights are better than one, but this is definitely not my wife’s view.
Stretching one’s legs and terrestrial comforts of various types is a big plus, but that does depend on route and flight timings
Aside from the A380 flight, arent the other flights from Heathrow pretty much always Q Suite ? Or Is there still a likelihood of a swap
If opting QR to Asia is it better to fly out from LHR in the afternoon or at night , any experiences? Also is 2h in Doha enough for a lounge visit at all
Thanks
Thanks all. Well flight wise too it would be MAN-LHR-Sin-dps so actually MAN-Doh-DPS also better maybe 🙂
BTW there are rumours QR will be announcing something at Farnborough next week.

All depends on your own preference. Flight times, do you like a stop etc.
For example, we are flying on Ba Manchester to London and then onto Singapore in September. After a few nights in Singapore, we are then flying onto Bali.
However, on the way back from Bali, we are flying Qatar at 1am which hopefully allows us to have a good sleep before the morning flight back to Manchester.
At the moment, the Manchester flight isn’t showing Q suites, but a flight we are taking in Feb is showing the other version of Q suite. It’s just pot luck and can change. As so many people have mentioned before, don’t rely on the aircraft, especially on Qatar.
For me, potential disadvantages:
1. I don’t like the connection half way through the flight. Doesn’t allow me to sleep fully.
2. I found Q Suite quite claustrophobic when the doors were closed. However, this is a personal thing and I guess most people don’t find it an issue.
Otherwise, Qatar are ***far*** superior to BA.

A few weeks ago, I flew out from Heathrow on QR8, at 16:00.
We had a 2 hr 10 min connection in Doha.
I was happy with all aspects of this. Managed to enjoy the full service experience the whole way including the terminal 4 premium check in; the premium lounge; onboard in Q suite; the new Al Mourjan Garden lounge at Doha.
It wasn’t the same when I flew on overnight sectors, though the Doha lounges are always good at all times and the cabin crew service is equally excellent at all times (though far less proactive on an overnight obviously).
I would always choose mid afternoon if flying out of the UK in business class on Qatar.
