Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Combining points [to book via Qatar Privilege Club]

    Hello,

I’m new to the forum after spending hours searching on google/reaching out airline live chats to no avail and hoping someone can advise. It’s a bit complicated..

My husband and I have accumulated a decent amount of Amex reward points and Avios points. Our goal is two book reward flights UK to Australia for next summer. We have enough between us to book return reward flights for two of us then we’re going to book the other two with cash.

So far I have used the reward points in my account to book a one way reward fight for myself and one of our daughters.

Next I was planning to book the return reward flight for myself and my daughter but using my husbands points.

Then finally I was planning to book return cash flights for my husband and my second daughter.

I presumed (ignorantly) that because we had a family avios account and family Qatar privilege account that we’d be able to ‘pool’ all our avios but I’ve started to hit brick walls. Is there a way to do this?
Worst case scenario I could book a one way reward flight for my husband and second daughter but then I would have to book 4 one way cash flights for us all which is a lot more expensive.

Just a thought. Could my husband set up his own Qatar privilege account and use his points to book reward flights for myself and first daughter?

Any advice? I hope all this makes sense!

    TIA 🙂

Have you looked at setting up a BA household account? If you booked your QR flights this way it wouldn’t matter whose avios were used as they are taken pro-rata when you make a booking, and you can book for anyone in the household account or on a family and friends list which you can also add. As I understand it, QR Privilege Club doesn’t let you pool avios.

Thanks for your reply, yes I have a BA household account so assumed when I logged into my privilege account I would be able to combine all the family points to Qatar but it only shows my own points as being available to combine?

Each individual can move their own points to/from Qatar, you can’t move your husband’s points only your own, but he can move his own to his own Qatar account.

Thanks for your reply, in that case, would he be able to book a reward ticket for me and our daughter from his own Qatar account with his own points or do they have to be in the name of the account holder?
