Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club Combining separate 2-4-1 outbound with return

  • 28 posts

I booked an outbound flight using a 2-4-1 using Passenger A’s account. Then to secure the return I booked a one way at T-355 with the plan of asking BA to return half of the avios.

Somehow, I booked the return on Passenger B’s account. Both passengers are travelling on the 2-4-1 and are both in the same household account. Can I get BA to ‘combine’ the booking?

I was logged into Passenger A’s account as the new welcome page said “Welcome, Passenger A” but when I clicked book with avios it changed to Passenger B’s account.

@Iranicus – BA can’t combine bookings, but they will, as a concession, apply the voucher to a return booked separately because the flights weren’t open for booking at the time of booking the outbound. Strictly speaking, to apply the voucher, the booking should have been made by the voucher holder, so you need an element of luck…

As @JDB says, it will depend on whether the agent notices that you’ve booked the return on the wrong account (as I understand it, it’s something to do with cookies on your computer which makes it switch between accounts).

You might have to cancel and rebook the return if BA refuses to refund the avios, the seats should re-appear as the booking should be very recent. You could ask the agent to do this on the phone, so they can grab the returned seats and add the return to your outbound booking.

    Thank you both.

I called BA exec club and they solved it with no issue. Refund of avios received.

Can I ask, did you book the return leg with a separate 2-4-1 to just with Avios?

If they’d used a separate voucher they obviously wouldn’t need to be asking for half the Avios back…….but would have wasted a voucher!
