Hi,
Can the companion voucher be used on return journey if:
Outband is Heathrow > Singapore paid with cash
Inbound is Hong Kong > Heathrow paid with Avios
As this is quite complicated would I have to do over the phone?
Thanks,
No. Can only be used on avios flights
If you wanted to do this trip using avios and the voucher you’d need to call as open jaw avios flights can’t be done online.
You do have lower avios/higher cash options, however, if you don’t have enough to cover the highest avios amount required. Start a booking to see the options you’d have on either leg. For the open jaw booking you will need to call BA, as noted above.
Try the Boost Avios option to buy Avios to get you enough to get both legs on points
Some of the “more cash, fewer avios” options can be better value than boosting, if you can be bothered going through them all!
NL, fully agree. I booked CE to Bucharest and was quite surprised at the difference when I went through the options.
I always check, but I get the impression a lot of people believe that more avios and less cash is always the cheapest
I saw a combo recently which worked out at under 0.4p per avios, it was something like 2,500 avios plus £42 cash, the actual cash price was over $250, and of course wouldn’t have the same flexibility as an award booking.
