Uaed one of my CSUs a few weeks ago for the IC San Francisco. I had 5 nights booked using rail card then 2 via AMB weekend voucher.
Called the diamond line and spoke to agent. Some confusion between us on what I wanted to do but soon resolved. Agent asked me for various details for data protection and the booking ref for the stay which she then confirmed with me with the dates etc. I only mentioned the 5 night booking so as not to confuse.
Put me on hold for a couple of minutes whilst she had a look in her system
Was offered a couple of options. As I had the hotel open in the app I was quickly able to check which one I wanted by quickly looking at the room details rather than just the descriptions.
Confirmed which option I wanted and she then confirmed I wanted to use the CSU which she then processed and booking in the app updated and email received.
Took about 10 mins max (if that) and relativly smooth process.
Was more than happy with what I chose and even happoer when I emailed the hotel and asked if it was possible to stay in the same room for the next two days of my stay using my AMB Weekend Voucher which they allowed (though I was prepared for them not to).
But my top tip is to have the hotel open in the app / website when you call so you can check which room(s) you are being offered are what you want. The two choices were both called ‘suites’ but one just had a sitting area as part of a larger room the other a separate lounge. I went on the details of the room not just the title.
