Do IHG know if you have booked via a cash back link? And if so are they eligible for upgrades?
There is 6% cash back via Topcashback at the moment and I have various bookings to make in Australia, Singapore and Bali two of which the IC Sydney and the IC Jimbaran I’m hoping to use suite upgrade vouchers at.
As long as te link takes you to IHG and means you’re booking direct and book a qualifying rate I can’t see why you couldn’t use a SUA, it’s if the cashback site uses some sort of cashback rate then maybe not.
There isn’t a TCB rate.
I’ve used my railcard code and also Best Flex rates once I’ve been forwarded onto the IHG website and got cash back with no problem.
Points and nights post as normal etc.
I can’t recall if I’ve used a CSU on a TCB booking though.
Great – thanks. I’ll be booking the Railcard rate too and I’ve seen it reported that that’s eligible for the suite Upgrade.
I have heard of the Cashback sites tracking via the “are you a travel agent” toggle under “Rate Preference”.
So if you do click through via Topcashback or Quidco, ensure that this toggle is on “No”. It may result in your cashback not going through though, so you have to decide which is more important, SUA or Cashback…
Interesting that Topcashback say their cashbacks are eligible on Luxury and Lifestyle bookings but they’re only available through an agent so I don’t know how that’s going to work!

TCB plugs their IATA code into the IHG booking to facilitate the commission.
Railcard, VISA and MC rates are all eligible to apply CSU
I’ve always preferred collecting Avios through the BA shopping portal as opposed to a cashback element, at 6 Avios per pound if you time it right it’s good for us. Apart from the ridiculous 15% Iberostar that’s currently on offer at TCB, that’s a belter.

The Luxury & Lifestyle rate that the likes of Emyr used to be able to get is no more as the scheme was revised and renamed (‘destined’ comes to mind)
But it’s been used as a description of various categories of properties/brands for some while on things like MBNA rebates.

If you leave it set to Yes (you are a travel agent) then the cashback tends not to track.
However whether you have it on or off does not affect whether a suite upgrade can be used.

Thanks – I’ll have a look.

Options seem to include paypal and virtual prepaid visa.
TCB US doesn’t track IHG for me.
TCB US worked for me, also with the Railcard rate. Conversely TCB UK with IHG hasn’t for some time! Can’t remember what IHG normally does, but I’ve got 12% of the gross amount including VAT.
You can open a free Wise account, send from TCB US to there in USD then get a decent exchange rate within Wise to GBP and pay it to your UK account.
