Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Confused with BA peak avios dates

  • 8 posts

Hi, I’m sure this has been asked before but I couldn’t find the answer.

So I’m looking at booking MAN – BOS one way on 26/3 or 27/3, which according to a calendar I found on this site is a peak date.

However on ba.com it shows both of these date as off-peak, in fact its off peak until 8th April.

However when I go to book, it prices up as a peak date. (25/3 prices as off-peak, which is also consistent with this site).

Which is it? Should I call and ask them to honor off peak pricing, or just accept a level of incompetence at BA and move on?

    Thanks in advance.

I’ve also noticed a number of Thu/Fri/Sat/Sun dates are showing as peak when they’re definitely not. This was consistent over about 5-6 weekends in a row between March and May-ish, but the Mon/Tue/Wed were showing off-peak. I was looking at a few places in Europe with the same results, all weekend dates showing as peak.

Has BA decided to make long weekend trips peak dates just to inflate the prices?!

We’re flying to BOS on 29/3 and it was definitely off-peak when I booked (at T-355 to get the 2 F seats!). Have you gone further into the booking process to see if an off-peak option presents itself? Avios plus cash pricing has messed up the booking system a bit.

I’m seeing the 26th and 27th as peak dates on ba.com, with the rest of that week being off-peak (and not surprisingly very little J or PE availability). What you’re seeing, however, on the first screen is the RFS price which looks like peak pricing, (actually more at 25k avios). If you click through there are other pricing options, but I don’t know if any of them are particularly good value any more. 25k avios plus £50 might be a decent deal if you’re happy with economy, which could be the case as it’s under 8 hours.
