Just checked my flight for tommorow. The BA ap says, we are sorry your flight has been delayed (1.5 hours). If we have not contacted you (they have not) please arrive in time for your original departure time.
My question – why would I need to turn up at the original time for a flight that had been delayed by 1.5 hours?
Thanks for any advice.
It’s only 1.5 hours, probably best to be there in case it’s suddenly not delayed any more. Also, the app is not the most reliable source of info on delays and cancellations so check on ba.com.
I just had that on a flight from LAX to LHR and the delay happens indeed. I suppose they just don’t want to run the checking late (the employees may be busy with other flights).
Unless specifically told otherwise you need to check in based on the original schedule.
So much can happen in the 24 hours before a flight – a delay may reduce / be eliminated with that particular plane or another has been substituted in the meantime.
I’m all for the isuing of information but this sort of thing generally causes more anxiety and confusion than is necessary.
And at outstations it may not be possible to keep desks open for longer because of simple things like the contractors staff need to work other other flights in the meantime (but will be able to man the acctual gate later) or in some cases another airline needs the physical desks so it’s not always possible.
