Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Contacting BA — the usual woes

  • 25 posts

It’s just over a week before my flight MAN-LHR-YYZ and then YYZ-LHR-MAN in which the MAN-LHR and LHR-MAN flights have been cancelled. I don’t have any rerouting options confirmed, and every time I call BA on the Silver line I get cut off. I did manage to speak with someone for about 5 minutes, earlier, before getting cut off. What a shame their customer service doesn’t extend to calling you back when their lines fail.

I also tried some international numbers, with the same result.

    So frustrating!

    Anyway, rant over.

(Well, not over. I’ll still be ranting to myself once I hit “Submit”.)

How easy/hard is it for you to get to MAN? When all else fails I find that presenting myself at the airport and explaining my predicament to the ground staff has had a 100% success rate so far! It makes you want to weep with relief as they tap a few keys and magically sort out your holiday after you’ve been banging your head against the wall in response to BA’s IT and phone services.

Alas, about 80 miles each way…

Hmm that’s a bit far to pop over. We usually stay over the night before a long haul flight and it’s saved our bacon a couple of times now, notably when we got up at 4 am to a text message saying our 7 am MAN-LHR had been cancelled and we were now travelling 2 days later! When we turned up at the check in desk a short time later and made it clear we weren’t prepared to lose 2 days of our holiday they quickly found a taxi to get us to LHR.

Have you tried changing the LHR-YYZ leg? Our LHR-BOS was “cancelled” a few months ago, but when I had a look on MMB the flight was still going but about 2 hours later. I had the option to move to a different flight, and the system actually let me re-select the original routing and also change the LHR-MAN leg to a later one as well. I have no idea why this happened, I usually can’t change any booking which has a domestic connection on it!

Have you tried the online chat? I just typed speak to agent in and got through to someone in 10mins this morning, who was able to rebook a cancelled flight for me. Somehow less frustrating than being on hold and no risk of line dropping.

My recommendation would be to call/contact between 7.30 and 8am. Whilst most lines say they’re only open from 8 I’ve often gotten through to someone within 15mins and usually before 8.
