  • 6 posts

    Hi All

Ive recently joined a US company – so i’ve been issued with a Amex Corporate Card. As i have platinum i called and can earn MR without paying any fees at the moment which is great.

That said my Husband is now at the 2 year with no amex and can get another card bonus. I was planning on cancelling my card after referring. But if i cancel the card will the 2 years even reset? If i cancel i will have to pay £35 to get MR on my account – which is not a problem but will this class as not having any cards open…

I have a feeling that it wont but i couldnt really get a straight answer from the person on the phone.

If that is the case and i cant we will probably wait on my OH’s card – see if there is a bonus offer availalbe again and just keep it for as long as it takes to get the bonus points (house rennovation so probably not that long tbf) and then cancel it.

Interesting one – so thought id ask.

In my experience – and we’re going back a LONG way here (2010) – when I had a Corporate Amex (NOT a Business Amex, a proper Corporate one), it had no impact on getting personal bonuses.

This is because the card is legally owned by the company, not you.

It’s no different to you being a supplementary cardholder on your partners personal Amex and still qualifying for your own bonus.
