So the 1.25% cashback but ONLY on preload is peculiar. Not got time to do the bookkeeping for that. I would have thought they would have allowed it to take from the COT savings account which is built within the app, but alas even the new feature to use that to pay down the card, doesn’t count as preload, perhaps this is coming. Seems like one of the best things they could do which would cost them nothing beyond development time, unless they count customers being able to use the benefit easily as a cost! It’s one of the main things that stops me paying for pro though since it’s effectively a hurdle to enjoying the main improvement over the free card.
Metal/schmetal, don’t care, more likely to stop me getting through airport security easily. At least CoT were good enough to offer me the option here of not having to change to metal if I upgraded, as I value not having to go around suppliers changing card details!
10:8 avios conversion or 1:1? Well if like me you collect via Amex, Barclays and other things too, this is really inconsequential. You may as well take the cash value and then buy the avios as a boost option on other earnings. On this basis you can forget the 10:8 or 1:1 and buy avios at 1.09:1. I would only have to take the poor 10:8 rate if I earned less than a third avios points through other cards, as boost lets you buy 3 to 1 point at this rate.
Radisson VIP is interesting but with Radisson in the U.S not being included it is a struggle to draw value, basically when I stay overnight for a flight near a UK airport.
Priority pass would be a perk if not for the fact that I tend to travel business class anyway and Barclays already give out lounge passes but have a more significant annual reward (free cabin upgrade).
Xero and Telegraph aren’t much use to folk who read another paper or who already have xero, which it seems most do!
I do like the CoT app though and its management oversight and the free account to mop up non-amex and business only spend is a no brainer. Wish the Pro card had more usable rewards, but you need to spend about 120k more on CoT for the extra avios points to justify the fee.
