I just received an email about the IHG credit card, saying they’ll extend status through the card until the end of next year and offer 2-4x points on stays from card close through the end of the year with “more details will follow “.

How will the UK IHG One Rewards Credit Card status benefit work?
o IHG One Rewards Credit Cardholders:
• In 2023 will keep their current IHG One Rewards status
• In 2024, will receive Silver Elite status for all of 2024
o IHG One Rewards Premium Credit Cardholders:
• In 2023 will keep their current IHG One Rewards status
• In 2024, will receive Platinum Elite status for all of 2024What if I achieved a higher status for 2024 than the status awarded with the card (e.g. I’m a Premium Credit Cardholder and achieved Diamond Elite for 2024)
o In 2024, Cardholders will receive either the status awarded with the card or the status they achieved in 2023 for 2024, whichever is higher. For example:
• If an IHG One Rewards Credit Cardholder achieved Gold Elite status in 2023 for 2024, they would remain in Gold Elite vs Silver Elite.

What is the UK IHG One Rewards Credit Card – 2X & 4X Bonus Points Promotion?
o Once a UK IHG One Rewards Credit Cardholder or UK IHG One Rewards Premium Credit Cardholder has registered for the Offer, the member will earn two or four points per $1(USD) spent on Qualifying Spend for all stays, that are completed during the period from 28 June 2023 through 31 December 2023 (“Offer Period”) when paying a Qualified Rate. These points are in addition to the base points and other points the member will receive from their qualifying stay.
o The amount of points a cardholder is eligible to earn is based on credit card-type. IHG One Rewards Credit Cardholders in the UK can earn 2 points per $1 spent and IHG One Rewards Premium Cardholders in the UK can earn 4 points per $1 spent.
o To participate, a cardholder must have been a UK IHG One Rewards Cardholder or Premium Cardholder through April 17th, 2023, register for the promotion, and have a qualified stay on or before December 31, 2023 to earn bonus points during the Promotion Period

Ah thanks I missed that! I was disappointed 4x points is actually 4 extra points per $, not 4x base points!
Once the card partnership has come to an end, we will be rewarding 4X points on all qualifying stays until 31 December 2023. More details coming soon on how to take advantage of this offer.

I just received the same email – I was wondering about looking for another loyalty card and switching to a new hotel brand, but this will probably retain me for 18 months.
My wife got this and she cancelled her card four years ago. IHG doesn’t actually know who has the card and doesn’t use it vs who cancelled it. Virgin Atlantic was the same with its MBNA cards.
