Forums Payment cards Other payment cards Credit cards for business use

Hi all, I’m coming to the end of my 12 months with the AMEX Gold Business card and going to cancel it as i’ve made use of the bonus points and not many of my suppliers take it – not enough to make it worthwhile carrying on. I’m looking at the Virgin Atlantic cards, but is there anything stopping me from using these to pay suppliers? I can’t find anything on their website that states ‘not for business use’ or similar text, but am aware that some cards prohibit this use.

Anyone have any experience? I’d use the Capital on tap card, but i’m a sole trader, so not eligible. I already use a Tesco CC for some purchases which could be classed as personal (eg fuel, oil for the heating in work etc) but I don’t use it to pay any other suppliers.

I would be interested to hear your thoughts.

Also how long would I need to wait to apply for the AMEX platinum if I cancel now? I may be in a position to make the minimum spend in the next year or two!

    Thanks

If you look under the “credit card” tab at the top of the page Rob has written about business cards.

Thanks for your comment – however if you read the post I then asked for it to be moved as it was in the wrong place. Also, clicking the credit card tab does not direct me to an answer.

I’ve never had a problem using a personal card to make a business payment.

If you contact Amex and say you are thinking of leaving there is a good chance they will give you the next year for free
