    Hi

Does anybody know if you upgrade from gold to platinum do AMEX do a credit check or recheck your income. They have put the next income requirement as of last year which we are now not eligible for.

I only had a soft check done although it wasn’t an upgrade. I applied after holding gold for only 6 months

Ok so did you keep your existing gold or was it a new appreciation. Did they check income?

I kept the gold and made a fresh application, I was expecting a hard search but it hasn’t come only the soft search..
other than the income declared on the application they have not asked for any proof.

I upgraded from the Gold to the Platinum at the end of February. There’s been no soft searches that I can see through ClearScore or through the Lloyds app and the credit report stuff on there. I also don’t see anything relating to Amex on MSE’s Credit Club, and I just pulled the latest report that resets on the 5th for me. When I opened my Gold card, there was a soft search on there.

When I did the eligibility checker on Amex’s website for the Platinum card, I got a score of 2/10 for the Platinum and the BAPP. I actually wanted the BAPP but held off. I saw the upgrade offer on the Amex website when I scrolled down in the offer’s section of the website. I clicked it, and then a few more buttons, and that was it.

No income being asked or anything. I actually clicked through to get to the next section to see what it’d be like and then was told I was accepted. I did update my income to £50K last year, so maybe that’s stuck on and told Amex about it?

Only thing that saddens me is that apparently you don’t get to keep the current card number if you decide to downgrade back down to the Gold. Seems to be a new application entirely. 🙁
