Posting here in the hope someone from Barclays reads this forum, as well as for general info of others.
I have these bugs outstanding and am getting nowhere with customer support:
1. When the additional cardholder does an online purchase, her phone is not presented as an option for authentication even though it is correctly listed on the system and customer support also see it listed.
2. When I do an online purchase, an unknown phone number is offered alongside mine (even though I’ve reported this) and no one knows what it is.
3. When I do an online purchase, I am offered to get an authentication code to the app. It never arrives. All the settings are correct. I’ve been told by customer support to try uninstall/reinstall and will try that next.
4. Many Open Banking transactions are being mangled – those where Barclays is is providing text information about the country – the “supplementary information” field is being appended to the merchant, with the data mangled along the way. For example, a 79p purchase at Apple:
On the statement: “Apple.Com/Bill, Apple.Com/Bil”
On the website interface: “Apple.Com/Bill, Apple.Com/Bil .79 POUND STERLING IRELAND”
On the Open Banking API: Merchant name = “Apple.com/bill, Apple.com/bil, 7928.26 null IRAN”
This is a mess because Barclaycard blame the API provider (SaltEdge) who blame Barclaycard; neither will accept a request for support!
On the plus side, it’s super that the card now works with Apple Pay (which I learned in this forum as Barclays didn’t tell me.)
Some updates:
1. An unauthorised number is still being presented as an option when we are making an online transaction. I reported this seven weeks ago and it’s still there.
2. New bug: in the app, if you go to Statements > Barclaycard Avios Plus, it says “You don’t have any statements”. You have to go to “All statements” to see them.
3. Garbled transactions are still being presented on their OpenBanking interface. I’ve now see the log from the API provider which shows this:
“TransactionInformation”: “Apple.com/bill, Apple.com/bil, 7928.26 null IRAN”,
for a 99p transaction booked in Ireland by Apple. No ownership of the bug from Barclays (or the API provider).
