Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Current Timescale for EU261/compensation claims

BA cancelled my return flight from Munich to Heathrow and onward to Glasgow in June. The cancellation was done less than 12 hours before the flight. I rebooked my own flights as BA were unable to offer replacement flights arriving the same day. I submitted a claim for both EU261 compensation and the cost of the new flight plus expenses incurred during the 12 hour delay on 17th June. BA still haven’t responded. Travel insurance have paid £50 for the delay but will only consider covering the flights and expenses if BA refuse.

How long does it generally take for BA to respond to these claims?

there’s really no way to tell, I’ve been waiting on responses for anywhere between just a couple of weeks and 4 months – I’d expect a reply between another 2 weeks and 2 months. Not sure if calling with some urgency might yield a better result but I wouldn’t waste my time

@BP – you don’t say when in June, but four to six weeks is probably fairly standard. I take it you received an acknowledgment and case reference so at least you know your claim is in the system?

The nature of your claim is more complex than a straight compensation claim so it will take longer to be assessed. Also, BA’s system somehow prioritises widespread disruption claims (and there have been a few recently) ahead of ones affecting individual flights.
