Hi all, I’m hoping someone will have some wisdom to share here, otherwise I’ll be getting a loan out to pay a fraudulent CC charge.
Noticed a few days ago that someone had used my Curve card (which was linked to my Virgin Atlantic card) to book a Hilton hotel for $3174.73. Definitely wasn’t me. Reading online and seems to be a theme that this could be linked to an AirAsia customer info breach last year. Similar fraud being reported with the same Hilton advance purchase identification numbers.
Raised a fraud claim with Curve CS immediately and contacted Hilton on X. Curve aren’t responding, and Hilton are less than helpful.
Ive frozen the Curve card, but I’m still liable to pay this off on my Virgin card until Curve do something. Does anyone have any experience with an issue like this? Anything else I could do to speed things up?

You’ve just reminded me to delete my account, Curve can be useful when things go right, but there is so much evidence of people being shafted when things go wrong. Account closed.
@warrior01 – you need to contact Virgin as well. They should immediately freeze the payment and not require you to pay the sum pending investigation. Obviously, it’s more complicated because Curve sits in the middle, but the transaction on your Virgin card is as unauthorised as the simultaneous transaction on the Curve card. Although your Virgin card theoretically won’t have been compromised, they may well wish to reissue the card anyway.

Same here. Not recently but I’ve had a couple of dodgy transactions attempted from Uber in the past which just got declined because the card was frozen.

The thing is you don’t need to wait for Curve to act. Unlike a merchant dispute where your underlying card provider can’t/won’t get involved, when there is a fraudulent transaction reported, they will act immediately if for no other reason than to protect their position. I use my Curve card all the time and don’t know when certain legitimate charges will be made so I don’t freeze it but I’m perfectly confident of resolving any fraud in a timely manner if that were to occur.

I had a fraud issue with Curve and HSBC and HSBC cancelled the transactions before Curve support had even responded. This followed the theft of a physical Curve card, not an online data breach.
Same happened to me this week with someone using my curve details to book an easyJet flight. What I don’t get is why make a fraudulent transaction on a travel booking? Surely there’s a greater chance of not consuming the goods be it a flight or hotel booking rather than buying a physical product
Similar happened to me just a couple of weeks ago but fraudsters put through a half dozen charges on Curve which went on my Virgin MC and maxed it out with over £5k of transactions all while sleeping. They were paying for Google ads in Vietnam and after filling in the online form and sending the required info to Curve it’d all been refunded within a few days. New card sent and I’m really cautious now about Curve but I need it to spend from my Australian bank account otherwise I’d get rid. I had wondered where the details went astray and thought it might have been Uber but then realised I have bought travel stuff like tours in Egypt through Egyptian websites so can’t be sure if it’s their poor security on websites or because of a data breach somewhere.
