I guess you were seriously abusing it with manufactured spending?

    Sounds very likely Alex G.

What did they say when you spoke with them?

My Curve has been working flawlessly with Barclaycard for 18 months, the only use it gets though is genuine overseas spending.

I use Curve with Avios Barclaycard a lot, and have not had any problems, but there is potential for a lot of abuse if you are on the Pay Pro plan.

I don’t think Barclaycard have a problem with using Curve for genuine transactions.

I’ve had my Barclaycard Avios linked to Curve for 3 years. Used for Google Wallet transactions as Barclaycard are stuck in 1990 and won’t allow you to load it directly. Zero issues.

Gotta be more to this story.

I wasnt abusing it or anything I literally linked it to curve and after it soon got deactivated I made 0 transaction through curve, my friend also has had no issues with curve so I am not sure why this has happened. Barclays didnt disclose anything just that it was getting closed

    That’s interesting.

Is your Curve card a credit card or a debit card?

Perhaps Barclays have a problem with Curve Credit Cards? Do they cost Barclays more to use than the Debit Card?

I don’t really understand how Curve works as a Credit Card, and I expect most of us on here who have Curve have it as a debit card.

Probably some overzealous anti-fraud algorithm then

How long have you had the barclaycard for and what have you been spending on it?

Spending at curve doesn’t cost barclays anything (ok there are indirect costs such as maybe fraud is more likely when going through curve), just like spending at Pret directly on your barclaycard doesn’t cost barclays anything.

But Pret will likely be charged more for curve CC transactions versus curve DC transactions. And curve likely gets some of that higher fee which is why they want customers to have their credit card.

Curve appears to set a recurring subscription payment on the underlying card. As a debit card, you have to have the funds to load curve and pay the transaction immediately, while as a credit card you can borrow from curve and pay it off later.

Barclaycard would be charged if they accepted curve to pay them, but they stopped accepting curve a number of years ago.

There is a logical fallacy Post hoc ergo proper hoc which translates as “after it therefore because of it”. In other words, if B follows A then B MUST have been caused by A.

Perhaps that fallacy applies here? Maybe the problem lies with the Barclaycard account not Curve and the addition of Curve was pure coincidence. Could it be the Barclaycard account was going to be closed anyway?

I think just the debit card as I think flex is the credit card I presume and I havent signed up for that

I’ve had it a few years most probably 2/3+ years? and just everyday spend amazon/shopping/tfl

Could be the case, however, with the timing of my card getting deactivated I wouldn’t say its coincidence
