Hi, can anyone tell me if you upgrade from the free Curve card to Curve metal does it give you a different card number? I want to know as I am trying to make a payment with the free Curve (have tried with fronted on and off) and it is being immediately rejected as the site seems to know straight away from the card number that it is not a debit card. TIA
Yes you get a new number. Not sure who you paying. Player 2 got switched from free curve to Metal Business few months ago which incurs extra fees with HMRC. Customer service can switch it back to Metal Personal albeit being bit of a pain. They didn’t do this years ago when upgrading.
When i upgraded to metal the card number was shown in the app right away so i could use before it came through the post
Thanks for the replies.
I’ve taken the plunge and upgraded to Metal and got a new card number in the app. However, I have tried to make the payment and it is still coming up with the same error :-(. I don’t want to go into what it is but it is a payment route that I have reliably told woks so what is going wrong for me?
Gary – I’m wondering if I’ve been upgraded to the business Metal product like your player 2 was. How did you know that had happened?
Thanks for any help!
That’s frustrating. Back of the metal card will say “business” when you receive it (doesn’t show up with the card in app I don’t think). Do a dummy HMRC payment with the new card number if you don’t want to wait, and it’s a business card if it incurs small extra fee on payment summary page.
Thanks Gary. I’m not able to make an HMRC payment currently but I did just try entering the card number on https://www.bincodes.com/creditcard-checker/ and it shows “Card Level – COMMERCIAL” whereas other cards I’ve tried just don’t show anything in that box. I’ll get in touch with Curve I think and get them to check it.
They will swap it no problem just takes time for CSA to respond to queries. Double check your daily spending limit has not been to reduced post upgrade as that happened to player 2 as well. Again they will bring it back up to previous level if requested.
OK, I’ve managed to do a dummy HMRC payment and it IS saying my card is a corporate one. Doing some more digging, I can see that they’ve issued me a card number starting 537591 (business) rather than 537590 (personal). This might be because I have had Curve since the very beginning when it was only business (maybe). Anyway, I’ve sent Curve a chat message so will wait on a response.
Daily limits look OK at least!
Thanks for all the help 🙂
