Hi All
I am new (or late) to the Curve game here. I can see that Hargreves and Lansdown accept Curve as a debit card payment for adding money into SIPPs or ISAs.
Using Curve, linked to Barclaycard Avios seems like a no brainer.
Does anyone have experience oof Barclaycard not liking Curve (non-fronted) payments?
Thanks in advance!
I mean, if such an MS route existed, we’d abuse it in such a way that HL would shut it down in two days, and then we’d open up a thread here and create 86 pages of a discussion!
Late to the party? My God, you’ve arrived just in time to help clear up!
Ah – I didn’t realise it needs to be Fronted. I’ve just moved ISAs to HL so wanted some views – thank you all. However, yup perhaps that party is ending at some point 🙁
I more wanted to know if this would be frowned upon by Barclays rather than HL

😂😂😂😂😂
I moved money into Interactive Investor via Curve/Barclaycard without Fronted.
Careful – this worked for me for a couple of goes.
Then II closed my account.

I’ve used curve with HL for years, and never fronted. And still do.
HL fees are quite a bit higher than Vanguard or ii – the level of MS you would need to do just to make up for the difference in net returns would be huge.
I managed to do vanguard once and then it stopped working forever

I use Curve without fronted to fund my Interactive Investor account and have done for the past 3 or 4 financial years (to the £20k ISA limit). A few years ago I funded significantly beyond that when I wanted to make some purchases outside the ISA. It’s not manufactured spend though, it’s simply using Curve for spend that I would otherwise do with a debit card. I’ve never withdrawn from Interactive Investor.

Out of interest, which debit/credit card have you been using for this (behind Curve)? I’d like to do something similar but the various rules and limits etc. are extremely confusing. E.g. the Virgin card charges a cash advance fee for using via Curve. How do we find out which credit/debit cards allow this fee-free? I’m considering paying into II via Curve/Plutus.

Interesting, did they give any explanation for closing it? If it wasn’t allowed, surely they would have warned you first, rather than close it straight away. Also, which card did you use for this behind Curve?
For crying out loud, why ask all these stupid questions, @rr2005? These days if a route works no one with an ounce of sense would share it here.
Its trial and error. Try a route with a small amount, if it doesn’t work then try another route. If you’re lucky to find a route that works then keep it to yourself.
Couldn’t agree more @Harrier25. Imbeciles.
Also remember the new 1% high risk fee recently introduced by Curve covering such transactions.

@rr2005 – you just need to try all the car door handles in the street, just don’t tell anyone and make sure there’s no CCTV. One of them may open and Bob’s your uncle.
@Harrier25 – ok keep your hair on 🙂
Honestly I didn’t even know this was a thing so just trying to learn more about it. Anyway, I hear you, thanks all 🙂
