Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Date changing Avios redemption as a BAEC Gold on 3rd party booking

  • 23 posts

Looking at a redemption to lock in as there is some availability but may want to move if preferable dates become available later.

As I understand it, avios redemptions are fully refunded minus any change/cancellation fees..

I am Gold but redemption would be on family member’s BAEC account to which i have 3rd party permissions. That account (BAEC Blue) has an AMEX 241 against it so the booking must be in that account.

Wondering as a 3rd party with gold status, if I manage the booking and contact BA to make any changes will they allow changes fee free as per gold benefit or would change fees be imposed due to the booking being made from a Blue BAEC account. I would also be on the booking as the companion in this instance.

Just wondering what peoples’ experience is of this particular situation?

There is no difference in treatment of redemption refunds between a gold and a blue member.

I think there might be an exception to this rule for gold priority rewards but for what you wish to do, any changes will cost £35 per passenger no matter who books it and who manages it.
